Description During the height of the Mineral Rush, on the unnamed sixth moon of Orluk, a lost prospector stumbled upon something extraordinary; a cache of bizzare alien structures. They seemed to resemble the description, only whispered in rumors, of other strange structures responsible for the disappearance of a ship and its crew in another arm of the galaxy. Based on the prospector's shakey description, the newly found towers apparently consisted of several different, some possibly new, designs.

These, however, did not appear to be turned on. After raising enough funding, the Planetary Anthropological Society (PAS) built a research outpost here in the heart of the structures to study them. Mysterious questions abound in this system; perhaps the largest is what happened to Orluk's innermost moon approximately 5,000 years ago? Based on extensive astro-surveys, the destruction was not the result of a collision with any known object; at this point the cause remains undetermined. And what can explain the rest of the moons' strange orbits? The structures reveal little about the builders and their intent, even their reasons for choosing such an inhospitable location for their construction.

120 years after the PAS built their outpost on the moon now called Enigma, there has been no change in the status of the towers. Being constructed out of strangely interlinked carbon nanotube-like molecules, they remain impervious to all but the most destructive methods of study. What secrets lie inside them? What were they placed here for in the first place? And perhaps most important of all, who built them? These questions remain unanswered.

This image is a collaboration with . He rendered the terrain, and I added all the goodies Go take a look at his gallery and check out his work!! He makes great terraspace work and he's a good photographer as well

And for the first image with these strange alien towers, see my collab with "Marooned" [link]

Thanks! i didn't post a wallpaper in the latest pack, did I? what size do you want, but keep in mind the clouds are a photo so if I go too big, they will look pretty bad

All I have to say is WOW buddy! I'm glad you were able to use the tower again! This picture is so cool and super mysterious. Amazing story, it had me hooked. I wish it gave more answers to questions I had after seeing the image but I'm also happy that it didn't. Amazing work once again from a true pro!

Regulus36 In reply to JKelly26 [2010-12-29 01:20:43 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!! I was thinking about the tower, and realized there is a lot of potential for more story there, I mean 'who the %$^# built them?' ....still got to figure that out though

Reall Awesome!! Just asking, how dyu make this? Tablet?Mouse ? What ps? Any special Textures/ brushes ? And, how did kelly make the terrain : 0 did he make it totally by hand? (ok so i'm a newb to digital drawing and i wanna be on the right way )
Thanks in advance

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Regulus36 In reply to blahstik [2010-12-29 01:16:50 +0000 UTC]

Thanks

First off, Volcomman1 made the terrain used in THIS picture, but JKelly made the one in [link] They made both terrains with Terragen ([link] there are two versions of Terragen, version 0.9 and version 2, and both have free versions you can download without all the tools) I would recommend downloading the free versions of Terragen 0.9 and 2 and see how you like them

And then, all of the buildings and spaceships are 3d models added to the base image after it was rendered, using Photoshop.... does that help?

You're Welcome

Yah, That helps a lot bro
Just a question, do you know any good tut's i can start with ( i'm new to photoshop - and all that stuff) I found good tut's for 3dsmax, found classroom in a boock for ps cs5 But i don't know what's good or not :/

Thanks in advance man

If you're interested in space art, I would take a look at 's great article here [link] also you might want to join Solar Voyager [link] it's a great little site (where I'm a mod ) that focuses on space art. For Terragen, try the forums here [link] and also here [link] Books are a great resource too, I have most all of my art/3d books from college still on the shelf, and I refer back to them all the time. Just keep practicing, keep experimenting, and soak up all the knowledge you can find
