Description After a busy week, sometimes you gotta kick back.

I really wanted to wait until it was actually Saturday to post this one, but I figured showing it right before Independence Day was a much better idea. Plus I happened to finish this much sooner than I expected.

As I mentioned in my last WIP, this was something I did to experiment with linear perspective. Getting all the furniture drawn in the right angles is what took the most time. Right behind that was making sure all the shading was corresponding with the light source.

When I did sketches for the picture, I initially considered a number of different ideas, from having it set around the 90s, to adding PJ lounging behind the couch, to adding Grunkle Stan, it was something I'd had kept playing around with when it came to characters and competition.
This turned out way better than I thought it would! I also noticed I hadn't picked up my Prismacolor pencils in a while, so I figured why not?

On a side note, Hope you all have a fantastic Independence Day!

I love how you shade the this one. The texture looks stronger, but somehow it doesn't look like a traditional drawing at first. Great job!Β

Hi, I'm fromΒ ProjectComment Β contest~

When I saw the thumbnail, I was deadly sure this is a digital artwork! I had to come to it and get zoom closer to find out this is a traditional artwork! I'm amazed!

You caught a Disney style so well! Also you made it all so natural and 3D like! (especially his belly, heh).

His pose is very well done! So relaxed and chilling.
Also the face expression. He looks like he has discovered his heaven! I wish I was that happy as he is at this moment!

His clothes are a little... disgusting ^^'. Big pants, a... half of a sock. It doesn't look good, man! But if you're comfortable like that, then... go on.
These heart make me laugh!

The colours are nicely chosen. They make a coherent whole.
The coloring is so smooth! But no wonder, why! Using Prismacolor and having such a talent is a great mix!

The room and the background itself is really amazing! So many details and items! I love that sofa pillow lying under a wall with a hole in it! The board on the wall has nice notes on it! He loves Disneyland much, haha~
Oh no, Mickey's head shape on the dart board! Bad Pete! BAD!
I can't belive! He has a trash can next to him and he still has a rubbish on the floor! It adds so much laziness to this art, I love it!
That burger looks delicous. Too delicous. And I'm hungry.

You made a great work with the shading! The wrinkles of the sofa under his butt, the shadow on the table, on the curtains and the floor. I especially love the shadowis on the walls. Nicely chosen yellow colour for it. Β

The whole atmosphere on this piece is so perfectly lazy and cozy. It reminds me of my free weekends, and as an introvert Β can relate to such a behaviour.

Good work! Keep going!!!

ProjectComment person here. Very impressive to tackle such an involved background, and with colored pencils.Β
As a longtime Disney fan, including the Goofy Movies, I enjoyed the subject. Silly humor w/the boxers and lazy attitude.

Perspective seems solid. Interesting to have a cushion back at the wall & the board w/all the written details.
The drapery for his armpit looks a bit tricky, but I realize since this isn't digital, fixes aren't a thing necessarily possible.

Great job w/shading/lighting w/traditional means. I see one other has commented so far from the group. Happy to contribute as well.Β Β  Β

Thanks! That shading around his armpit was really tricky to figure out!Β  Probably should have done some sketches beforehand for that. Really appreciate this well-written review.

I've read you submitted this to ProjectComment . Let's leave a, hopefully constructive, comment on it!

I'd like to start with the amount of 'props' in the room: They help make it become less plain. It's worth it to look around and find all kinds of different clutter and objects that help make the room feel alive and sets the 'Fuggedaboudit' vibe nicely!
You also deserve appreciation for taking all the lighting effects and shadows in account while drawing. I've heard that can be tricky.

As for my critique I have to fall back on what others have already said and that's the left foot issue: No one can bend their leg like that without breaking it at several places. I don't know if it's a good suggestion or if it'll always work, but can you try to mimic the poses you want to draw the characters in to get an idea to how to draw them? Or have you tried that before?

Nonetheless, I do like this a lot! Hand-drawings deserve lots of love!

Thanks for the well-written review! I actually did toy around with Petes pose prior to sketches. But I never got it quite right. But that's a lesson lead we. Thanks again!

Yeah, I wanted to imply that he tossed the cushion of to the side once he finally finds the remote underneath.
