Janus is an all-around pleasant guy to have as company. Whether its casual conversation, jokes or even genuine heart-to-heart nonsense, he puts on a strong front. He has always been one to socialize and enjoyed the company of others, even if they were not too fond of him themselves. Despite what he has been through, he rather keep some kind of spirit alive. And when it comes to his new life, he finds himself being useful to a higher purpose and may sometimes remind others of such feelings. And if someone were to be getting down and out about the past, he's always available with an open ear, though sometimes his feedback is not as genuine as he makes it sound. Trust is an important gift, and he will use it to how he likes. Yet despite being willing to listen to other's mishaps, he never confronts his own. He is very private about such matters, especially when concerning his family and what has been done to him. He will avoid such subjects for as long as his pleasantries may last. If pushed too much, he lashes out. Having always neglect the realization of his past has kept him always at an edge, though strongly masked with optimism and responsibility. In truth he's as angry as everyone else about the Monsoros and looks forward to the day revenge is imminent. But a clear head is needed most, and so he works hard to stay that way.

Background:
Janus and his younger twin, Rhea, were both raised by their grandparents after the passing of their mother at birth. Despite this sad start, the twins were surrounded by many of their relatives that life was simple and peaceful. They went to school, played with friends and spent time with family like any other child. Both were very analytical in their observation of their world and did very well in school. They would go on about whatever new information entered their growing minds for hours, much to the amusement of their grandparents. Janus was the most talkative, always humorous while Rhea enjoyed dance and sports. They mused over what the wanted to be when they grew up: a politician? a doctor? So many possibilities yet they never knew such dreams will be short-lived.
The invasion began in the middle of the day while they were at school. There was no way of knowing what was really going on. They stayed close as they were taken into ships with other schoolmates and children. No adults. They were terrified. Janus even more so as he began to think of their family, their grandparents. Where were they? Were they taken too? But Rhea kept a strong face for them both. They would not see their family again. That was for sure.
They found themselves on another ship destined for the labor camps. It would be a hard life, but they were fortunate enough to have each other. For a couple of years they remained there and soon the labor camps just became a way of life. Janus still found small moments of laughter when they would share the days events or made jokes of their fellow labors or their captors. Never in mean-spirit but just something to distract the mind. Sometimes there was chance for mischief. These memories he held onto dear as his old ones became foggy. He was desperate to keep hold of whatever good was still here.
The day Rhea was taken was the day that good began to dissolve. There was no warning of it, just like there was no warning when they were taken all those years ago. There was no official reason either. Many speculated she was to be subjected to experimentation due to her strength. Nothing was clear. Janus just felt sick then. A burning emptiness. He never saw or heard from her again. More years past, or at least he believed they did, and he was feeling just as hopeless as everyone else around him. Soon the realization of his situation came down upon him and he became angry. How could he have been so accepting with this so called "life"? Everything he's endured? And now without a family...it was clear now. They had to do something. He had to do something.
With some other more hardened fellow laborers, they plotted a way of escaping. After paying attention to patterns and movements of their captors, they found a chance a few months down the line. They were fast and swift in their break for freedom. Deception and sneaking around got them only so far and soon they were captured. He assumed by this point they would kill him. And he had no qualms with that. But he was placed on another ship, that was to send him on his way to who knows where? Another camp? The arena he's heard about? Or maybe the perceived fate of his sister? More questions to ponder alone.
And as he tried to find an answer to his previous questions a miracle happened. At least what he thought was one. The ship was intercepted and captured by another alien race he had never seen before. They claimed they were there to save him and his fellow transportees. He wasn't entirely trusting of that notion at first. But as he entered the Garrison, learned of all that has happened and what was to become of them he finally found a new way for himself. Here he can actually do something. Use his skills and talents for what they're worth. And maybe, just maybe, together they all can take down the Monsoros who had enslaved them. And there it was. The flicker of hope came back to him as he took this all in. He'll do what he has to. And if so many of them are still alive and well at this point then, maybe...maybe Rhea is too? If she wasn't here she was somewhere else. And he had to find her. But first things first, he needed to prove himself capable of saving anyone. And the Garrison was the place to do it.
