~Watercolor~2009~Awwww Buddy!
One of the few paintings I've done based on a photo. The original photo was so well done, and beautiful, and perfect, I felt really really REALLY guilty about copying it with watercolor.
BUT
because it was such an awesome photo, and a perfect portrait of Buddy, I just had to try it out.
The original picture does not have the stick, so that was my own personal touch (so if it looks "off", there ya go).
If you knew Buddy, you would find this portrait describes him perfectly.

It would be a little 'unnatural' to see Buddy without the stick. Maybe post the original photo in your scraps...

now that I look at them again, there's really nothing similar between the photo and the painting

Well, you could always say "Inspired by" instead of "Based on." Still looks solid... really captures the wet hair, so that comes across perfectly (the comment below shows the point made it across without the benefit of them seeing the photo)
