Description

Trying to get some of my creative drive back so I rendered one of my secondary characters that was introduced in
Raid on Denab Dry-Docks(This takes place after Sonya's Birthright)
Captain Gregory Westner and S.R.D. Strike Team Omega stood at attention as Grand Admiral Thrawn, Stephanie, and Acting President Alander entered the briefing room. "At ease. Please take a seat, we have an important mission to discuss, but first..."
Thrawn pulled out a small jewelry box out of her uniform jacket pocket and passed it over to Sonya. "In recognition of your previous actions you have been promoted to Lt. Commander. Congratulations."
Sonya nodded as she humbly took the box and opened it. Inside were the Lt. Commander collar markings for her uniform. "Thank you, ma'am."
Alander smiled warmly, "You deserve it Ms. Blade. The final approvals for the medals for Praxsis should be completed in the next few days. I wish we could do a formal ceremony but we need the Avenger in action."

               Jannette Katara was born on the Nathal Empire Homeworld of Nagara in the upper levels of the of the capital city of the same name. She grew up believing like many in the core systems that the Empire was a force of justice and peace for the Universe. She enrolled in the Imperial Naval Academy as soon as she was old enough. With her family’s connections and her natural talent, she was quickly placed on the command track. After two years of slowly moving through the ranks and being passed over for reassignment to larger or more prestigious ships due to political maneuvering she began to see the Empire for what it truly was, especially after some suppression missions that in her opinion were exceedingly brutal. She finally got her chance when she assigned to be the weapons officer aboard a destroyer that was joining Thrawn’s second task force.

               The captain of the Destroyer and the XO were unhappy with the reassignment and grumbled about serving under the ‘alien’ but Jannette didn’t see it that way, she knew both the Captain and XO were in their positions not do to talent and skill, but by their family’s connections and political maneuvering and she hoped that Thrawn would see through it. After a string of failures by the destroyer Thrawn called the three of them aboard her command ship just before a major operation. After a series of questions about the recent failures Thrawn removed both from command and placed Jannette in temporary command of the destroyer. Jannette acquitted herself well in the operation with her ability to follow specific orders but also adapt and improvise as the need arose. She quickly found her place in Thrawn’s fleet and just quickly became one of Thrawn’s top officers earning her trust and in time became one of Thrawn’s ‘agents’. Her time in Thrawn’s fleet came to an abrupt when her family had finally pulled enough strings to get her reassigned to what they felt was a ‘safer’ and ‘more promising fleet’ as the XO aboard a heavy cruiser with the Nagara Defense Fleet.

               When Grand Admiral Serena Thrawn defected from the Nathal Empire the Emperor thought he ‘purged’ any officers who were loyal to her that remained as well as ‘disciplining’ several of his advisors and intelligence agents who he felt should have seen Thrawn’s defection coming. Thawn had anticipated this retaliation and managed to shield Jannette and most of her network from the Emperor’s wrath.

               Jannette continued to appear to serve the Empire loyally, passing along intel to Thrawn when she could for almost a year before she was assigned to the Emperor’s Enhanced Officer’s Program as a test subject. She witnessed the horrors of the initial failures but by the time they got to her they had perfected the formula and she became their first success. The results were similar to a lesser degree to a normal Enhanced with her strength and speed increasing, as well as developing the ‘halo effect’ ending up shorter in height to a normal enhanced. Her understanding and implementation of tactics and operational strategies increased dramatically.

               When the process had finished, Jannette was quickly assigned to become the XO of the Relentless as it underwent repairs and refits for the damage sustained when it preformed it’s deep strike to attempt to eliminate most of the U.R.F. government by either capturing or destroying Trinity Station and destroying the station’s defense fleet. Before Jannette boarded the Relentless she managed to get an encrypted message out to Thrawn’s other agents revealing where the Relentless was being repaired. Jannette didn’t expect her information to be acted on so quickly and was almost killed when the Relentless was attacked. In her escape pod with the Relentless’ captain and a wounded bridge crew member she managed to signal the Avenger for pickup and was captured where she reviled that she was an agent.

               When the Avenger returned from its raid Thrawn arrived on the Avenger and confirmed Jannette’s identity and she was released from the brig. Jannette quickly informed Thrawn about the Enhanced Officer Project’s location and Thrawn ordered an immediate strike on the base with Jannette leading S.R.D. Strike Team Omega to retrieve the research on the project before the Avenger destroyed the station.

               After the successful completion of the mission Thrawn assigned her to replace the current XO aboard the Avenger who had after receiving false orders tried to imprison Captain Gregory Westner and Lt. Cmdr Sonya Blade and nearly sparked a full-fledged mutiny aboard the ship in the way he acted. Jannette at first was concerned about Greg’s command style as it was very relaxed, giving a lot of leeway to his command staff to carry out his orders. She quickly learned the reason for this was that the command staff were free thinkers and mavericks, needing little direction to do their jobs. Jannette quickly adjusted to this command style and now works to make sure the Avenger continues to outperform expectations.
