Thanks for the Critique! I'm so glad that you have pointed some of these things out, it helps me grow as an artist more then a simple it looks good. I really feel like the uneven direction of the claws also give it this illusion as well. Thanks for the comment and keep an eye out for new stuff.

If I get the time I will. I have alot on my plate right now.  If you pick up a program called gimp its free online and you can fine a variety of brushes including fur brushes that would help with this process. Keep an eye out and I will have to post a tutorial.  You can also in the mean time look up tutorials online. This is where I got my start. They have a ton of good stuff. As for something to help with fur here is a great tutorial on painting fur right from DA. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask I love helping people getting started in art. Please send by note though. Hope this helps
