personally, i think the Recon CS-6 would make a good las or bolt pistol, and the Longshot CS-6 wold make a better lasgun, but this is still a cool conversion.

Thats a lasgun? Thats tech-heresy, a butcher of the Noble Lasgun!

This is a creditable production, but it seems to me that judging from its proportions the Recon is better suited to being made into a laspistol; it's a little too short to sell "lascarbine" effectively.
I would say the stock is definitely the roughest part of this piece. You've done a laudable job of trying to turn the flimsy Recon stock into a lasgun's distinctively shaped fixed stock, but it falls more than a little bit short; a touch too boxy, and looks like it got more than a touch beaten up in the assembly process. If you do another lasgun project in the future, I'd suggest using some extra TLC in that area next time.

It's partly due to the literal meltdown caused by the spray paint. The next one would have a more solid appearance, if nothing else.

That is a lot of work, and it shows. It is a totally different beast than the CS-6, with the cut down rails and bodywork. What did you use for the stock - is that part of a Longshot? I can't tell.
Also - you didn't mention it but it's on sling too! I love that. Functional and cool looking.
Excellent work!

It's the Recon's own stock, reinforced with some scrap wood and then plated with poster board. And yeah, my friend provided his own sling for it.

My reccommendation: find a place that sells custom signs for business and ask if you can buy some of their scrap sheet PVC. It should hold paint better than any paper or wood product.
