Description This is the first Chinese ink painting I have done in my life. Naturally, I chose the hardest subject the man had taught us about; the wild orchid. Well I didn't really do it on purpose, I just really like orchids a lot. As a plant person, orchids are my very favorite.

So I did as he taught us, making the flowers a lighter color than the leaves, and making sure to put in rocks from which the orchids could grow(orchids grow wild on the mountainsides in China, so there are always rocks in orchid pictures, and the flowers are always a paler color than the leaves. I paid very close attention to this part of the demonstration.)

He let me have the demonstration painting he did of the orchids. He was a nice man.

This was done on sketch paper, in about twenty minutes, most of which was spent deliberating on where I was gonna put what. And then I just threw all that out the window, and got to painting.
