While clearing out some notes I was suddenly reminded I adopted this cute fish character from the lovely .

Not wanting to waste a perfectly adorable design and with some new inking confidence I've finally managed to get a Curiah City based story out for this guy, and now he has a name. Murrichi, but everyone calls him Murray!

Murray is a perky and optimistic merperson who spends most of his time on the beach. In fact he lives there, in a shack where during the day he rents out deckchairs and runs a lost and found. Things that are left on the beach end up in Murray's shack, everything from lone flipflops to dropped jewellery. Murray takes his job very seriously and enjoys collecting and filing away all the found items. But he's willing enough to return items to their owners...for a price. Anything that isn't claimed Murray makes his own, and often dresses himself completely with items left behind. Old t-shirts, forgotten sarongs and mismatched sandals are all part of his ensemble. His favourite items to find are seaglass shards, vintage cans or bottles, and old keys. His shack is somewhat of an Aladdin's cave of lost treasures and complete trash.

In his free time (which isn't often during the height of summer and peak tourist times) Murray can be found walking the beach with metal detector in hand, or in his fishy form scoping out lost treasures in the shallows of the city's coast. Murray is actually very timid about venturing too far into the open ocean thanks to an irrational fear of sharks, and tends only to do so during winter to escape the colder weather. He's quite a strong swimmer and thanks to his gills he can stay underwater for long periods of time.

Another favourite pastime, and one of the only reasons Murray would ever abandon his post at the shack, is attending parades and outdoor festivals. Any big outdoor street parties you're sure to find Murray wandering about enjoying the atmosphere, all wearing outfits and costumes as ridiculous as his own. As well as keeping his eyes peeled for any lost objects Murray just likes to be surrounded by people having a good time. It's why he enjoys the beach as opposed to the big open ocean....where you're all alone....and there are sharks......

While Murray doesn't have many close friends he's a well recognised character on the beach, and most regulars know him and his collecting habits. Unfortunately Murray can be a little over eager collecting stuff on a dull day, so chances are if something goes missing on the beach it's with Murray. This has gotten him into trouble in the past, even if his intentions were good. Murray is greatly offended by the idea that people might see him as a thief, as he hates thievery and would be the first to report if he spotted pick pocketing going on on his beach.

Now I just have to figure out how to incorporate him with my other Curiah City fancharacters........I should update their design sheets too...
