Yeah I love it cause of the art style and also the gameplay is fun as well, to bad that style and feeling didnt get carried over to Dark Souls 2 but its still seems fun to play despite not being as stunning stylewise, but yeah I'm waiting for it to go on sale and plus in the meantime I heard there alot of problems with it that need to be addressed

I hope it does live up to the hype its been given the gameplay looks pretty cool but I just hope its actually scary, I know it has some intense parts n stuff and some hide mechanics like Outlast but I hope it to be scary at times to they do have a random ghost dude that appears randomly in one part of the game to kill you n stuff but he doesn't look scary but more cool but its jst my opnion. I also hope that the story behind it is pretty good cause that six armed monster got me hyped at first but then after looking at it I kinda don't get it, it seems like they just added the long black hair creepy factor to a random monster but if theres a good explanation around it ill be sold same thing with the boot-legged pyramidhead dude with a cube for a head instead lol. In the end I hope it ends up not being a mishmash of random horror stuff and lives up to what its meant, but I have confidence it will be good but we will only know when it comes out

Actually it's not really given much hype, more like people are praying for it to not be crap lol.
Yea I totally agree, the ghost dood is called ruvick, cool name but he doesn't look scary at all, more generic in terms of design but I heard that he can kill you in one hit and that you can't do anything to him. Which is basically like pyramid head and nemesis (although you can kill nemesis a ton of times) but yea his basically an enemy that you will randomly encounter and will have to run from. Also the six armed onryo is unofficially called reborn Laura, I've seen a picture of her before her transformation so I think they'll probably make some backstories that will make it work, maybe a backstory worthy of being at the same level as Lisa Trevor, same goes for vault head, I'll be sold if he has a significance to the story rather than just being the cube headed cousin of pyramid head lol. Another thing that got me interested is that you have to burn the bodies of the monsters or they'll probably come back to life like RE remake. I don't think the story will be amazing but a decently good story would be indeed exceptional.
But yea I really hope it turns out to be a good and scary game, a long time fan of classic resident evil played the two chapters of the demo and said that it gave her nostalgia. Which is really what it's meant to be, to bring back the old school survival horror feel but, like you said We will only know when it comes out.

Oh I thought it had some hype in the survival horror gamer community but yeah I'm one of those praying for it not to be crap (though I have an unnerving feeling it can possibly be.
I think they shoulda made ruvick a bit more scarier and ghostly looking in his design it would add to the holy shit I wana avoid him, not because he kills me in one hit but also is frightening to look at as well. I have a very bad feeling vault head is just gonna be exactly what u said like a pyramid head easter egg type thing like yeah sh has pyramidhead but we have cubehead type thing. The burning the bodies idea sounds really cool.
I hope it able to bring back that feeling like she says but hey its prolly gonna be at least a good game anyways if not great

Yes man, me too. I know why we have that unnerving feeling that it might be crap, it's because it's been awhile since we had an actually good and old school survival horror game, their literally going extinct. Developers of today seem to fuck it up, specifically on how to be scary. Blood splatters and dead bodies aren't scary, neither is a guy screaming at your face which is the equivalent of a 3 year old attempting to scare you, (example: the first necromorph in dead space 2).
the horror shouldn't be all in your face, it should lie in the atmosphere and subtlety. (Great example, silent hill 2). I mean shit, indie developers figured this out but the majority of people in the mainstream industry seem to not get it. Also the games that really know how to use jumpscares are the fatal frame series with the combination of many creepy moments, atmosphere and the fact that you have to photograph ghosts right in your face, it's literally one the creepiest concepts ever. I heard theirs gonna be a 5th installment of fatal frame but I don't have a wii
I think the only good main stream survival horror game that was released recently was siren: bloodcurse. Sure having to do linear missions with the objectives constantly telling you what to do; threw me off but I still really liked it for how creepy of a game it is. Fun fact: Keiichirō Toyama creator of silent hill also created the siren series
Also agree on ruvick and everything else. I still have some hope for it though, since Shinji claims to have taken cues from his classic resident evil games, and also take inspiration from Jacob's ladder. It's been postponed to October so they have more time polish everything up, still theirs that 50/50 chance of our hope being crushed.

Yeah I know I find alot more scarier indie games than any big developer games, but my theory on why there isn't many big developer horror games that r scary is because Action>Scary in terms of sales and we all know alot of these big companies just want money in the end n this leads to the extinction of any actually scary horror games from them. N plus whats survival horror when they give u a crapload of resources to clear hordes of monsters they should just be labeled action horror. Yeah I dnt find gore scary it seems like horror games r leaning now more towards fast-paced intense situations rather than subtle and bone chilling scares.
I like indie horror games cause it seems like the team isn't pinned down by blood thirsty investors n such and even though have a drastically lower budget they have alot more room for creativity especially in the horror departments despite those lame generic jumpscare games. I think fatal frame is one of the most perfect games in terms of actual horror I've ever played especially the first one because I actually felt and expressed fear while playing it and the atmosphere plus the random ghost mechanic always keep you on edge yet and having to literally stare in the monsters face with the camera was a perfect idea. Another game that was a good horror experience as well was SH4.
Yeah I enjoyed siren:bloodcurse it has been the only good recent mainstream survival horror game, the linear objectives was a small put off but for some reason the music put me off more at times and killed the atmosphere a bit and there was no way to mute but still an awesome horror game. I had a feeling he created this game at time it had a silent hill feeling to it. I wish I could play the forbidden siren 2 I have but its region locked lol.
Oh wow now its postponed lol dang they prolly moved it to October cause of whoooo the Halloween month we will be able to SELL more, but in the meantime they better polish up what they can n make it dam good and live up to what Shinji is claiming about it

Your right! Indie developers can make their games scary because they have the freedom to be creative, without a greedy company and investors to bring them down. Capcom and konami are prime examples of this, their the reason why resident evil and silent hill are in it's current status. They are greedy and only want games that are all action with generic design and gameplay because they sell more. This is probably why Shinji left Capcom and joined Bethesda and lol yea, releasing a horror game in Halloween is pretty cheesy XD. Also sucks that we can't get siren 2, I think I saw my brother play it when I was younger but never played it myself. Wonder what happen to the copy.
Definitely, I to agree that fatal frame has not only conveyed a perfect sense of horror but actually approached the horror genre in a unique way, hence the camera obscura. Also agree on silent hill 4, It's probably the creepiest one of the series, although it's gameplay mechanic suffers it's still a good horror game. I do think that it should've been one of the best horror games ever if it wasn't rushed, I felt like so much was left out and changed (example: twin victims made an infantile cry in the trailer but in the finished game they make low pitched groaning noises, infantile noises would've been freakier ) but the story didn't fail to be interesting and kept you you questioning what the hell is going on. I also loved it's concept of your safe haven slowly becoming unsafe and invaded by the unknown. Silent hill 2 also has a unique approach with it's horror, it's atmosphere is perfect and the fear is more about screwing with your head and something crawling inside your skin and staying there, reminding you that your unclean no matter how much you try to wash it away. Also if you notice that the monsters don't really pursue you, they feel more like wound up toys, it's scary because you might think that maybe they are people that you see as a monster or their lost souls that have bigger problems than you. Either way it's about truly being alone in the unknown, loneliness turning into anxiety. The fear is felt and heard from the distant darkness and it will not be all over your face, it has to be discovered by you.
Also have you ever played or heard of haunting ground? It's one of those old capcom survival horror games that took inspiration of clock tower. There are no monsters in it but it managed to disturb me in one part. There's this chick called Daniella that chases you, if she kills you, the game over screen appears and you hear what she is doing to your body. Here's a vid if you wanna see m.youtube.com/watch?v=A_7jD3QR… also the title says rape but she's actually ripping out your character's uterus which is seriously fucked up.
