Shan (Lei Gong Shan)

Background Info
Shan is the future leader of Ecruteak City's Lei Gong clan (a clan dedicated to Raikou). The Lei Gong clan, along with the Yan Di clan (dedicated to Entei) and the Shui Jun clan (dedicated to Suicune), are responsible for the maintenaince of the Bell Tower, Burned Tower, and for various city festivals. They give tourists historical and cultural tours of Ecruteak City. The clans supposedly strive for balance between pokemon and humans so that one day Ho-oh and the three beasts can return to the city.
Shan quickly grew tired of this, finding it stifling and boring. His love for loud rocking music and the modern culture was frowned upon by the clan elders. Shan, along with his chosen Electabuzzes, found relief in pokemon battling, and he won his first badge at the Ecruteak Gym. Shan left Ecruteak City to win other gym badges, leaving the clan in the hands of his older sister, much to her displeasure. He evaded attempts of his clan to find him and traveled throughout Johto and Kanto, earning badges.
Hearing of a battle tournament at the remote Ohana Islands, Shan decided to join, figuring to have a challenge and escape his clan's searches for him.

Personality
Shan is loud and friendly, though at times he can be a bit rough in showing his affection. He enjoys any upbeat music and pokemon battling. He has a very disciplined training schedule and likes to see how far he can push himself and his pokemon. Pokemon are his partners, and he trusts them to be able to fight effectively without having to rely on his orders. Shan doesn't take responsibility very well, and when things begin to be inconvenient, he tends to run away. However, he cares very much for his friends and will stick by them if they are in a tough situation. The problem is, his constant traveling makes it hard to make friends.

He always keeps at least one pokemon out to help him evade his clan members.
The Lei Gong clan only trains electric pokemon, so he has no experience using any other type of pokemon, but he's pretty good at handling any electric pokemon.
Due to his willingness to fight anyone anywhere, at anytime, Shan happens to unintentionally cause a lot of property damage and blackouts, especially when using Rai, Tai, or OHM. Thus he tends not to be on great terms with the police, but so far his evasion skills have served to keep him out of trouble and paying heavy fines. In terms of finances, Shan has enough to get by, but sometimes will do the odd job or errand for the extra pocket money to treat his team.

Pokemon
Rai (Electabuzz): As a child, Shan was given the decision of which electric pokemon he wanted to raise. Shan started off with an Elekid, who has been his very best friend ever since. Rai is very much like his master, enjoying battling and music. He sports the same tattoos as Shan on his hands. As the leader of the team, he is very upbeat and encouraging and looks out for his teammates, especially Tai. Unlike other Electabuzzes, Rai and his brother Tai do not have potbellies.

Tai (Electabuzz): Shan received another Elekid a year after his first. Tai is Rai's younger brother, but he is not as physically strong as him. Tai is the thinker of the team and considers use of brute force barbaric. In battle he is calculating and precise, prefering to find weak points before attacking. His wise glasses are actually wise contact lenses, since it is not practical nor wise to wear glasses in battle.

OHM (Magneton): The separate Magnemites are called O, H, and M. O is generally the Magnemite on top and is the oldest and wisest. H is quiet and chill. M is the youngest and is scared of fire. For the most part, O is the dominant personality, but enough stress can cause OHM to break into their individual identities. Shan was reluctant to catch it at first, considering it to be a rather inorganic-looking pokemon, but has not regretted it since. Ohm charges Shan's electric devices.

Amp or Ampere (Ampharos): Amp is generally shy but inquisitive and likes to collect shiny objects, especially round ones. If Amp is left roaming around, many strange objects will have found their way into Shan's bag...and their owners none too happy. Amp is not the brightest, but he tries his best in battle.

Leoht (Lanturn): A Lanturn from the ocean floor, caught by Val [link] for Shan. Leoht is large for his species and is considerably uglier than the Lanturns who dwell closer to the surface. He is quite self-conscious about his appearance and prefers to hide underwater. Shan doesn't seem to mind Leoht's appearance and is happy having Leoht the way he is. WARNING: do NOT call Leoht a freak.

Volt (Jolteon): Shan was stumped as to how to train an Eevee until someone gave him a thunderstone and he evolved him into a Jolteon. As a result, Volt has a thirst to prove to his master that he is just as good as any other "natural" electric pokemon. Volt is highly aggressive and belligerent. He extremely dislikes Eevees and other Eeveelutions, considering them inferior to Jolteons.
