My application to

I've never really done the whole RPG thing, but I'm crazy about Avatar and I thought I'd give it a shot. Here's hoping I get in!

Name: Moa

Age: 18

Nationality: Republic City

Affinity: Air

Skills:
Bending: Moa has always had a difficult time controlling her bending abilities-- Sometimes when she tries to produce fire, smoke is the only thing she can manage. Other times, when startled or scared, she can (accidentally) whip up an inferno. It's pretty random and never seems to work the way she wants it to, so it can be a hindrances as well as an advantage. She prefers to just not use it much.

Luck: Because of her fire control issues, Moa relies on thinking outside the box. This results in quite a few close calls, but, for some reason, she seems to have the luck of the devil and almost always comes out of trouble better off than when she entered it.

Personality: Moa happily works part time at a book store on the edge of Republic City where she can indulge her love of reading. She's very confident when surrounded by books and likes to spend her time finding nice places to read around the city. Outside the pages of her beloved stories she's pretty shy, naive, and socially awkward around non fictional people. She doesn't like confrontation and will either try to sort things out verbally or, if it escalates to violence, run and hide. Things tend to explode when she tries to fight, and it's not always the things she aims for.

RP sample: It was with a deep sigh that Moa signed her name and clocked out for the day. Finally. Her shift, short though it may be, was over and she was free to do as she pleased. The green eyed girl grinned to herself as she grabbed her latest book --it had come in yesterdays shipment, and she saw nothing wrong with sampling the merchandise (strictly speaking she wasn't supposed to, but what her boss didn't know couldn't hurt her)-- before stepping away from the doorway and into the street. The sun was out and shining brightly upon the crowd of shoppers wondering the shops of Republic City and she made it her goal to weave carefully between them. She was in no immediate hurry and might as well take the time spent walking to relax.

At last she passed the park entrance and made her way down a nearby grassy slope, plopping herself next to the softly gurgling stream. She took a deep breath. This was the life. Soft breeze, birdsong, nothing whatsoever to disru--

“BARK!”

She shrieked as a large white and blue blur passed in a flurry of movement just a foot to her right, paws the size of her head scrabbling for purchase in the loamy soil.

“Sorry!”

The apology, shouted hastily over the shoulder of the creatures rider, fell on deaf ears as Moa, frozen where she sat, clutched her borrowed book in a vice grip. The same borrowed book which was currently burning between her fingers. Wait, what?! She dove forward and thrust the rapidly blackening paper into the water of the stream, holding it under for a moment before tossing it to the shore next to her and staring at her hands in dismay. Steam rose from them in wisps as the superheated skin evaporated the moisture. Moa glanced from the book, blackened, burned and soggy, to her fingertips, now flickering once more with flames.

“Not again....”

What was she going to tell her boss this time?

Additional Info:
- Mother left when she was 3 days old and she was raised by her Father.
-Her father died when she was 17 and one of his old friends offered her a job at his shop.
-Her new boss also let her sleep in the store's attic when she couldn't afford to keep her house.
-Neither parents were benders, so she's not sure which side her bending came from.
-She never had a proper bending teacher and doesn't know how to control her fire.
-She likes to watch other benders while they spar and tries to recreate the moves.
-As a result she's decent in hand to hand even without her firebending.
-She's terrified of interacting with children and tends to stutter when talking to cute boys.
