i used photoshop to add glowing effect. i'm not really that great at teaching and explaining thing but i will try it.
1. i used brush tool to make that fire effect (you can download it for internet for custom brush)
2. after that click filter->blur->gaussian blur (until look a little bit glowing)
3. used image->adjustment->hue/saturation to change the color to your liking
4. used blending change to suit your style
5. used layer style->outer/inner glow to add more glow.
that usually how i add glowing effect. but you can search in youtube for more tutorial (and it is easier to understand if you watch tutorial on youtube.
