My lord, it's amazing, the way that the colors seem to melt into each other while still having distinct boundaries is astoundingly beautiful. The swirls in the sky and the triangles in the sea must have been a nightmare. The colors are all cool and balance against each other perfectly, and the whale is distinct, yet still manages to blend in with the sea behind it. All in all an amazing peice, keep up the good work!

Wanted to let you know I finished him up today. Here's a link to the final charm. He will be given over to her as a gift when my friend shows up in May. Thank you again. It was fun to try to reproduce this image as best I could.

Hi there. I love this piece but I actually have a question. My friend is a Marine Biologist and she happened across this picture. She fell instantly in love with it and just thought it was so very beautiful. I work with clay a lot and make charms from time to time. SHe wanted to see if I would make a small charm based on this image just for her. I wanted to check with you first because this is your work and I want to be as respectful as possible about that. So, would you mind terribly if I create a small 3D charm of this whale? It would be a one time piece, never to be re-created, and I would of course give all due credit to you.

Thanks for even considering my request!

Of course! Thank you so very much for the go ahead. I'll get it all worked up for her and show you the picture of the final product when it's all complete! ^__^

Thank you for sharing. Cougar is one of the more prominent animal totems in some belief systems.

wow thank you for telling me that , can they have names because mine had one??

Ravenari In reply to Zension [2007-12-17 07:32:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes they can! They don't always do, but it's certainly not common. My first guide (who was an animal guide, and not a totem, though he stuck around for years and years) was a wolf named Browen. So if your Cougar has a name, embrace it.

Wow, this is just so very pretty! I like the intricate BG and how you did the water coming out of the blow hole all swirly and such like that. I really like the coloring on this too and how one color just blends into another and flows just so. Just wow!

This is just amazing. I really like the way you've done the water as black swirls, and the way the little triangles recall little fish. And how the moon is a white expanse that is mirrored in the water. Just lovely.
