Dave lived in the next town over from me when I was in high school. In an age of waterfront gentrification, he belonged to one of the last fishing families left. That meant that every day he was up at 4:30 am to help his Dad prep the boat. During summers he usually went out fishing with his Dad. By summers end he would have basketball sized biceps and huge back muscles. Once on a rare day when he did not go out I saw him in the park fooling around and flexing for some young women. One of the girls went ewwwwww. That was when he saw me staring in awe. Ever afterwards if he saw me coming down the street, he would stop what he was doing, pull back his sleeve and flex his bicep. He found it amusing and would laugh. I never spoke to him. That was the extent of our contact. But it went on for years.
