Description I unfortunately have absolutely no idea what size this picture actually is because resizing is currently doing nothing in Photoshop and outside of that, nothing tells me how much I'm zoomed in. I am posting because I've decided I do not actually care.

That said, we progress to Silly Character Nonsense!

This is one of my dozens of Bhaalspawn characters; I have been playing the Baldur's Gate games, off and on, since middle school, usually with a different protagonist each time.

My most recent playthrough, I decided the priestesses were practicing eugenics and the Slayer wasn't so much an accident as the specific bit of divinity my character had been designed to contain. Yuan-Ti aren't technically playable, but after my tenth half-elf, I decided I didn't care and that anything that had ever been in a D&D manual was fair game.

If you recognize the sword, you probably also know what class she is.

I love how you paint her scales, and her glowing eyes!

The Eyes are amazing in this as well as the scale effect. Great job.Β

Great!
I love the tones, and the subtleness of the picture in general. Also, I can see a lot of personality in her.
I`m also a compulsive player of BG since school, and I love to see this kind of character artworks, and know what other people play...
But I dont have in mind this sword... Which one it is? And what class is this character then?
Any short bio for her?

Very nice work in any case!

Thank you very much!

The sword is supposed to be Carsomyr - it's a 2-hander, but I kind of wanted to draw her with a shield (mostly for the pose - characters posing with 2-handed swords usually look a little silly when I draw them...).Β  She was a paladin, although I had a mod installed that added a chaotic good paladin subclass - more vigilante justice, less due process, but still trying to serve the greater good.Β  Which was good, because I usually think paladins are kind of obligated by alignment to be lawful stupid. XD

Backstory is pretty constrained by the in-game facts, but I thought she probably spent a lot of her time at Candlekeep in really concealing clothing and frequently a headscarf if she was going outside, since the library got visitors and her appearance probably alarmed people.Β  Learning to fight was probably at least 25% wanting an excuse to spend time outside in normal clothes.Β  It's why she winds up being such a weird paladin, too - no one around to teach her, and since she's devoted to a chaotic good god, she just never quite picked up the absolute dedication to the law above all else.

Aha!
I think of Carsomyr, but being one-handed confused me... But you're right, if you're not a big Nord with a big beard, two handed poses are difficult to draw
I also agree with all the paladin thing; they are fun guys, with all the plate armor, the divine spells, the holy force agaisnt the undead... but beign LB its a little too goody two-shoes for my taste; very boring, and sometimes, even stupid. They don't seem humans. So CB it's great; and D&D allows for CB paladins of Sune, so it's ok, I thinkΒ

And thank you for the bio ^^ Seem it will be a fun to play character. I've to try a Paladin one of this days... I'm currently starting a playtrough with a Bard-Skald, not beacause I have much passion about bards, but because I wanted and agile warrior whith magic knowledge, something like a spellsword (without all the boring part of dual classing or multi). We'll see what happens.

Yeah, making it a one-hander makes it a lot smaller!Β  It looks much less imposing, haha.Β  I probably should make myself do a two-handed pose or three, just to practice... maybe someday.

I can't play lawful characters.Β  Strict, unquestioning adherence to the rules really isn't my style!Β  Sometimes the rules are wrong. >.>Β  And Chaotic Good paladins actually make a lot of sense - going out and following the rules of your god rather than the rules of the realm, trying to make the world a better place.Β  Sounds pretty palladin-ly to me!

Best of luck with your Bard-Skald!Β  That sounds like a fun character concept.

I wish they made them play-able.
Snake's in general deserve more credit.
Nicely done!

Happily, in old games like Baldur's Gate, it was easy to whip up a custom portrait and then imagine extra dialog. It would have been awesome if they'd been playable, though! I wonder if there would have been extra options in Nalia's quest...
