She is an Alicorn due to the Alicorn gene in her family (on her mother's side, specifically). Her great-grandmother had assended to an Alicorn whom is now deceased from unnatural causes. Ariella's mother died giving birth her due to her trying to birth an Alicorn; the birth was just too difficult for her, and Ariella herself almost died in the situation. Areilla being born Alicorn was extremely rare- equivalent to winning the lottery. Her father is super protective of her, and keeps her shut of from the world, safe inside the manor's walls. She lives in a desert.
