The giganotosaurus is great.
If Jurassic Park would have used this species, it would be recognized as the largest terrestrial theropod. (Yes, I know it was discovered after the movie).

Always one of my favorite species along with tyrannosaurs and abelisaurs.

Question, was it a pack hunter or solitary?

While Giganotosaurus itself has yet to be found in groups, close relatives and other large theropods have been.

some say it was a pack hunter taking down large sauropods.

I remember this being one of the few dinosaurs that were bigger than t.rex.

Actually Giganotosaurus was probably comparable in size to T.rex, possibly even smaller. The holotype specimen measures 12.4 meters and weighed around 6.8 tons. The bigger specimen was around 13.2 meters and 8.2 tons. CM 9380(the T.rex holotype) was 11.9 meters and 7.3-7.6 tons while Sue was 12.3 meters and 8.4+ tons. So T.rex might've been more massive.

Well, the T. Rex was heavier, but the Giga was longer: The largest skull of T. Rex estimated is 150 cm (Sue's is 141 cm), which estimates its length of 12.3 m for Sue and up to 13 m for the largest specimens.
While that of the holotype Giga's skull measures 154 cm, the largest dog measures at least 160 cm therefore its estimated length is 13 m for holotype secimen and up to 14 m for larger specimen.

Actually the Giganotosaurus holotype is estimated at 12.8 meters and the paratype at 13.2 meters. Iām pretty sure Hartman came up with that

If that is true, that makes both of them the same size (although the length of the skull makes me think that the giga is slightly longer).
