I like Invader Zim, it's my favorite show of all time. No I'm not overrating it, I know there are much better shows than it out there. It justs, fits my taste more than any other cartoon I've ever seen (I'm like 10 so I haven't seen much more from past shows). And when the cartoon screwed up most of the time it wasn't really bad either. Well except for one episode, that was truly bad. So bad, I actually asked if MysteriousMrEnter could do an ANIMATED ATROCITY on it. No I'm not exaggerating, it is, that bad.

So how these reviews will go like this, I'll go throughout the plot and point out problems throughout the way. So the problem with this episode is that it is way too mean spirited and has some filler. This episode is written as if modern Spongebob writers logic was shoved into Jhonen's head (He wrote the episode, actually). You want to know what it's mean spirited too? Dib Paranormal Membrane himself! Yeah, this is a Dib torture porn. Anywho, lets begin.

So, the episode starts with a Mysterious Mysteries episode playing on TV explaining devices called, "Spelldrives." To be honest, this episode kind of tricks you at the start that this is good. It has some good ol' gags about Dib's gianormous head, Dib is revealed to be watching it right then. A gigantic boot then kicks Dib's door opened, it's Gaz, get ready folks because this is going to be her least terrible scene in this episode, oh did I say this episode is terrible because of Gaz? She has a box of "Frakenchokies," and asks if Dib ate them all, Dib ignores her and does a flashback to when he got the spelldrives. I was debating wether this was filler or not. But it isn't, the reason is because is that it teaches us more about how Dib got him. Instead of, "Uh, maybe he got it from Hogwarts? But wait they use wands though, are the spelldrives for muggles?" Anyway after Dib finished his flashback, Gaz blows this random dust that came out of no where to Dib, he coughs and then he sees that his spelldrive has 2 powerpoints left. We've ran into problem one folks! Uh, how did he just SUDDENLY notice this now? Like when he got them he must've checked them, right? Otherwise he wouldn't know that they're all drained from their powerpoints. OH MY GOD THIS IS CONFUSING!

Anywho, he stays up all night looking for a spell that can give him a big head, uh doesn't he say that he doesn't have a big head? Not a problem for me, just wondering. He finds a spell called "The Sense of the Shadowhog," he starts reading it but it starts lagging or something. He only reads that it enhances something unknown, he wonders if he should cast it or not. He then comes up with a plan: cast it on someone else first and see if it works. He chooses Gaz, WAIT WHAT!? Episodes such as this episode later on and "Dark Harvest," prove evidence that Dib does love Gaz, IN A SIBLING WAY NOT THAT WAY! He also would probably get the idea that "The Sense of the Shadowhog" and "smaller head," MOST LIKELY are COMPLETELY different. Dib is acting out of character in the most blatant way he could possibly be, well unless he was part of a ZADR fanfic or was shouting, "EARTH MUST BE DESTROYED!" He summons the Shadowhog and lays the curse on Gaz, to be honest this could be a great episode, if it was the COMPLETE OPPISITE THAT IT WAS!! Shorten it to 11 minutes, make Dib do it on accident, and do it because GAZ DESERVED IT! I'm a middle ground with Gaz, I like her, but I feel as if she's too cruel to not get come up-ins. SHE GETS NO COME UP-INS OR DOESN'T LEARN HER LESSON!

Anyway after Dib casts the spell on Gaz, she wakes up and sends security robots on Dib, I'm actually saying this is a good thing. Gaz hasn't done anything to cruel yet (Unless you count blowing dust into peoples faces) and Dib was being mean and selfish by casting the spell on Gaz. But the reason why this doesn't work later is something I'll get to. Anywho Gaz finds herself with a horrible taste in her mouth, she goes to the bathroom with mouthwash (I think, or is it water?) When Dib enters he asks if Gaz feels different (I think, I'm trying to remember the episode here!) Gaz says she has a horrible taste in her mouth and burps into Dib's face causing him to pass out. And he says, "Father... help me." Uh, what is Proffesser Membrane going to do, he's not here anywhere.

Anywho I'd like to point out that in the video I was watching by the time we got to the morning it has been 4 minutes into the episode. THAT IS WAY TO SLOW! Mean the beginning 4 minutes don't have filler, but they move the plot slowly.  But anyway next morning Gaz eats some stuff and thinks it tastes like a pig. She say's it like a farmer, which is kinda funny. "Everything tastes like a pig, A PIG!!" I'm going to give it credit for one of my favorite Gaz quotes. This is the point this episode goes downhill faster than One Coarse Meal did with the suicide refrence. Okay, maybe not that fast. So Dib reveals that he might've done something, Gaz not being stupid, knows something is up. She goes and grabs Dib's haunted gummy bear collection, and threatens to eat them. This joke is funny because 1. Dib still hasn't done, the thing that makes this episode mean spirited 2. It's probably the least threatening of Gaz's threats in the ENTIRE SERIES, so even people who don't like her can probably think that joke is funny. Then Dib reveals that he casted a spell on her, she then eats rest of the gummy bears and Dib says he's going to help her. This is the point this episode goes from mediocre from BAAAD! You see, this shows that Dib learned his lesson. He doesn't need more come up-ins. But Jhonen, who was probably scraping off brain cells of his before he wrote this, thinks "Hmmm.... even though he learned his lesson, HE NEEDS MORE PUNISHMENT!!" So Gaz is angered, she goes and threatens to KILL HIM with her security robots from earlier. Ahem, Jhonen, you do realize this is an alltime low for ANY person EVER in fiction or real life, EVEN FOR GAZ! Who has tortured Iggins over him getting a game device!

So anyway Dib says that she needs him, so she deactivates the security robots. Now, Gaz and Dib are at Skool. Ahem, ALL OF THE SKOOL SCENES ARE FILLER! One scene is just Gaz eating and gagging and then cursing Dib. (WHICH BASICALLY HAS NO RELAVANCE TO THE PLOT!) And a scene at the cafeteria that is basically the robot threat scene, but except with flesh eating robots, she uses mashed potatoes..... um, ok? The scenes just said both the same thing, "EVERYTHING GAZ EATS (Except for hot dogs) TASTES LIKE PORK!!!" Ahem, Jhonen, DON'T REPEAT YOURSELF IN YOUR STORY TELLING! That's basically going to a comedian to hear the guy say the same joke, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER! Which is kind of like this episode, yup, all Dib torture gags! HAHA IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE HE'S BEING TORTURED FOR NO REASON!

After that, Dib takes Gaz to Membrane to see if he could cure her. By the way, this is one of my favorite Membrane performances, he's my favorite side character. But alas, not even good ol' Membrane humor can't save this episode. Membrane says there are no such thing as curses, then jumps up in the air and laughs insanely, OK, that was pretty funny. He goes and does, "Horrible Tests" on Gaz. After this Dib contacts Agent Tunaghost from the Swollen Eyeball Network, she's my favorite agent, by the way. I dunno I just like her for some reason. And asks if she could do some research. After the horrible tests, Membrane thinks Gaz has a disease called "Pig Mouth" (Clever). And after that the media treats her like a freak. The reason I'm not counting this as come up-ins for Gaz is because it seems more like a ploy for your sympathy for Gaz, and here's my response to that bullcrap: m.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0mPu… . YOU CANNOT FEEL SYMPATHY FOR GAZ WHEN SHE HAS BEEN SUCH A MEAN SPIRITED CHARACTER! JHONEN CAN'T YOU SEE THAT!?

Anyway after that manipulative montage ends, Dib is shown with Zim asking him if he could help him. Zim being his enemy, says no. This scene is basically: m.youtube.com/watch?v=Go5wle3_… . Although on the bright side we get one of GIR's best lines in the series in this scene: "I GOT MONKEYS IN MEH!" To bad he had to waste it on a terrible episode. So anywho the first half ends. THANK GOD NOW I CAN TAKE A BREAK! *Eats Sandwhich* That was tasty, oh, the commercials are over CRAP!!!

The second half begins with Dib coming to Gaz, blah blah blah just some more FILLER! FILLER NIGHT! It's just a scene of Gaz threatening Dib. Dib then goes to MacMeaties for a scene that's mostly FILLER! FILLER NIGHT! Except for the end of the scene when TunaGhost contacts Dib that she found a way, she found a way. IF YOU OPEN UP- oh wait a minute loosing my focus. Then Dib goes to Gaz and he says they need to go to Mystical Hill to get to the Realm of the Shadowhog so Gaz can get her sense of taste back. At this point, I don't want her to get her taste, BE STUCK WITH IT PLEASE!!!! Well anyway Dib breaks her free from her isolation cell thing and she, no it's such a bad scene I can't describe it. She, BEATS HIM UP! *Gets a bat and breaks everything in my house* WHAT THE HECK! NO SERIOUSLY, WHAT THE HECK! HE FREES HER TRYING TO CURE HER CURSE EVEN THOUGH SHE THREATENED TO KILL HIM AND THREATENED TO SLAM MASHED POTATOES INTO HIS EYE! YET HE STILL GET'S BEAT UP! IS THIS A MODERN FAMILY GUY EPISODE OR AN INVADER ZIM EPISODE!

So Dib and Gaz escape and they get to Mystical Hill in beaver suits... okay? Ok, this scene got two chuckles out of me, one for the beaver suits and one for the guy saying that they transformed into a book. Anyway they get to the Realm of the Shadowhog, they, "meat" a pig beast and he says that Gaz can only get her sense of taste back if she passes a trial. Gaz accepts and they walk in the castle, Dib isn't allowed in. So he is kicked outside, and Gaz is asked how tall he is and what is the cheat code for unlimited lives in Super Kicky Fighter. Gaz answers both questions correctly, and they both play videogames. Dib eventually passes the pig guards and gets to Gaz and the pig lord guy. He says that Gaz doesn't deserve punishment for not passing the trial (Even though she did) and that he should be punished instead. Ahem, Dib, you don't deserve it. But get this WONDERFUL ending. So the pig guy was about to say that Gaz passed, but Gaz interrupts him saying he should be punished, so he is going to be cleaning a toilet with his head for all eternity, it cuts to Bloatey's Pizza Hog where Membrane apologizes to Gaz about everything, he then asks her where her brother is. And she says the truth. Membrane laughs at this "joke" and the episode ends with Dib saying "Sorry! Sorry!" When cleaning the toilet.

So, THIS EPISODE IS TERRIBLE! IT'S FUNNY MOMENTS AREN'T REALLY THAT FUNNY AND IT'S MEAN SPIRITED! GAZ, HERE'S MY MIDDLE FINGER TO YOU! YOU'VE TORTURED DIB THROUGHOUT THE EPISODE AND HE DIDN'T DESERVE MOST OF IT! YOU SUCK GAZ! WELL ATLEAST IN THIS EPISODE. MY GOD I JUST WANT TO STAB YOU AND THROW YOUR DEAD BODY IN A VOLCANO!

Late though I am, I wholeheartedly agree. This mess was like someone dared them to make the most putrid IZ episode possible.
