I had to paint a priest like this too... those black bandages that go around their arms and then to their heads really intrigues me...

Attention to the details is important.

Yep! But overworking the piece Is not what I like. I like getting details with few brushstrokes and this boy came out pretty well

Your deft painting technique of glazing and the wide local palette create a very nice sense of ambient light, spatial volume and depth of field. Seems to be a much different approach than the larger overall work of other figures in the link.

Thanks for taking the time of replying.
I'm a bit confused with the meaning of deft technique.
And yes this little fella was my favourite character of the photos we took. I chose him to play an important part of the composition just for the fun of it. So I painted him with much more freedom and confidence cause he was not a comissioned portrait, the other ten figures were comissioned so... I'm trying to do this kind of technique with everyone but I still can't. Think I achieved something in this other painting [link]
Thanks for stopping by

The term deft means quick, skillful and adroit. It works well as an overall style in the way the colors show through and the brushstrokes add dimension and reflective lighting to their respective areas.
My pleasure Ramon.

I'm overwhelmed with such an observation. Guess no one has given me such a nice comment of my work here on DA..
Such characteristics are my goals in painting certainly and therefore I observe them in other painters. Thats why sometimes hyperrealism gives me a headache... cause I see skill but I don't see quick execution, I see diligence but I don't see energy, It impresses me but at the same time it bores me...
Skilled, quick and adroit... Rembrandt had those and so much more
Thank you!!

one of the better works of yours , like the idea of using classical method with acrylic paint.

Layering was never so fast and fun than now. The ability to work with twenty layers in one session of work can only be achieved with acrylics.
Hyperrealist painters are using them, thats a good signal for me

Oil? I thought yours were acrylics....
Well, oils are oils!! There are still a number of effects you can't reach with other media, thats for sure
