Thank you so much! Like the sushi I paint so much of, I'm surprised by how well-received these are because the subject is so strange. On the other hand, I'm not above continuing the series because I like being able to put food on the table.

I think it is because they are unique (and of course well painted) that increases the appeal.

Thanks! I enjoy doing the spotty look - it's hard to mask everything else, but I'm pretty happy with it. I had a lot of trouble with the red - I have yet to find an American or British red watercolour that blends well, and the Japanese colours are too harsh.

I share this view. The crab makes me hungry, he looks like one you could find on a painting in a seafood restaurant or on a package for luxury crabs, perhaps on a hankerchief.
Though at the same time it looks like a lovely little fellow you could encounter at the beach.

I guess what I'm saying is that it is really well made ... and that I'm hungry.

It's strange - my wife said the same thing. I think the red reminds people of deliciously-cooked red lobsters.

Thank you very much! These little fellows are much more popular than I'd expected them to be at first. I can't keep them in stock, which is really a good thing right now. I've got a ton of work to plough through, but I really wanted to go ahead and paint this one as soon as I could. ^_^
