Wilderland Adventures
Oils on primed illustration board.
Approx 20” x 25”
Cover artwork for the Wilderness Adventures supplement for Adventures in Middle Earth.
It was great to be able to create this scene within Middle Earth; Dwarfs (and one hobbit) stand atop a ruined hill fort, the sun setting and their foes descending upon them.

You know what I love the most about this artstyle? It reminds me of those late 70s/early 80s paintings for DnD and other fantasy franchise, those that were actually hand-drawn, unlike most of the stuff today, which is digital. Which isn't necessarily bad but it looks too commercial and clinical for me. This, however, is where its at, and I'm so glad that there are still artists out there keeping the spirit alive.
