Description Keldar

Feywild Fortune Card Art .
Β©Wizards of the Coast.

Acrylic, Approx 8" x 11"

Original artwork for sale.

Facebook Page: [link]

'Keldar's battle cry rang out across the ancient ruins as he brought his ancestral axe down in a slicing arc.'

This piece of art was created for the Dungeons & Dragons Feywild fortune cards, of which further details can be found on my blog:

I wanted a dramatic action pose for Keldar, so adopted a very low point of view, foreshortening and strong lighting to help convey that.

Funnily enough, I like the background of this the most; as well as the cool shapes and details, it's got that enigmatic mood of watery late afternoon sunlight trying to break through a gloomy mist and cloud.

RalphHorsley In reply to line-melte [2011-12-19 14:20:05 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I really wanted to push the background back. I made it very desaturated and low contrast, with a limited palette.

A little criticism is that I think he's suffering from tiny feet a bit. Lovely palette though, particularly that isolated green on the breastplate playing off the burnt oranges and yellows... yum.
