Well, yeah, that is obviously the best biological analogy for how fantasy/sci-fi slimes are like.Β
In this case though, I was just wondering over the reasoning behind the slime-slaughter, and drew a comparison to another case where cute critters of some description get semi-regularly slaughtered (i.e. the aforementioned bunnies in Australia).Β

i mean honestly.. Why does anyone kill slimes? They're so cute and harmless. They don't even do much.. Just bounce around and be slimes. Cuties.

(Sincerely) Good point, but that only applies for animals. In games, there never seems to be any shortage of them and assuming the acidic thing holds water they might, say, mindlessly encroach on farmland and decimate their crops.
Who knows, such contracts might be the fantasy version of pest control. Their version of hunting rats, perhaps. All just speculation, of course.

So they're only accidentally dangerous then? That seems like something that a simple deterant would fix. I never really see slimes as bad creatures. More like they're just a part of nature and happen to do their thing. No one knows where they come from or even what their point in the environment is.. but they are benevolent and adorable. They're only dangerous if you mishandle them ya know?
