Description
Since I have been resketching and compiling a new version my old justice league piece, I noticed some extra space that needed filling... So there are going to be a few additions.

So here we have another former member of the teen titans.

Nightwing

Ok so the first thing you'll notice is likely the mask but let's table that for a second.

The first thought I had was actually that he NEEDED to look a lot like my Batman design. Dick was not just his protege, he had access to ALL of the same equipment too. So if you were trained by Batman, and essentially funded by Batman... Your costume and need would follow a lot of the same logic and materials... If you look at my 2011 Batman there should be an immediate connection... if you see the info for that piece then it should explain most parts.

So what I will be discussing here is the differences.

Honestly I had a very difficult time justifying the choice to not give Dick a full helmet. I mean he uses tools that can bludgeon someone over the Head. He is very aware of the risk involved. He is after all just a mortal guy with amazing skills... but despite all of my changes, I just couldn't go that far. So yes, the top of his head is still exposed, flowing hair and all.

Next was the choice to go blue rather than red. I decided that with the name change, Dick was ready to put the Robin persona behind him. Red wasn't as vital anymore... but blue fit the Night theme... Now as for the gold/brass accents... I know that the blue and gold has been out of favor for a few decade but I never felt that the color was the drawback to those designs, so as a send up to the old days I added some of that back in (sparingly)

Next up, waist area... His utility belt is markedly different from Bruces. Dick doesn't use the grapnel gun or tie lines nearly as much if ever, so he doesn't have the built in harness or wench motor as part of his belt... Also, his codpiece is different. Dick is a bit more acrobatic. He needs more freedom of movement in the leg area, so I streamlined the armor structure into more of a cup. Aside from that, I had the choice to do something interesting with the belt buckle that I had not done before. If Bruce had a wench motor in that area, well... what would Nightwing have? and the answer was simple... Nothing. Or as inversely dependent, anything that he wants. Its a watertight, airtight, biometrically locked, sealed, impact resistant pocket. If he has something small, fragile, valuable, hazardous etc... then he has a built in place to store it.

His weapons are still the batons. His mask has the same type of cameras and infrared sensors as Bruces but I made the lenses blue (naturally).

Now... the mask... As I explain in my Batman piece... the mask is sort of essential. Dick grew up dealing with smoke grenades, joker gas, and airborne bioweapons. Of course he would include a mask with a re-breather... the thing is that I took the chance with this design to include something rarely seen in Robin or Nightwing but from what I hear, reminiscent of the "Talon" designs from the Court of Owls... something that looks sort of like... well, a beak.

I think that it works well and ultimately I'm quite pleased with the result. I tried a version without it, but I chose to pursue this option for the final design because it makes more sense to who he is... Of course the mask IS segmented and can be removed quickly (cause we all know that Dick likes out make out on rooftops) but For the most part I think he would keep it on for the aforementioned reasons.

So that is my Nightwing design. Hope you guys enjoy it and perhaps find something interesting in its execution.
