Description Colored animation! It's a little jittery, but I am way beyond the point of caring (I've dumped around 35 hours into this 1.7-second animation). It features my character Scarlett Sangar yelling very angrily at someone/thing. Scarlett is a swordswoman whose story takes place in an alternate medieval France where the legends of French folklore are real. Her design is supposed to be pretty angular/blocky because that's the kind of lady she is; she's very straight to the point and doesn't like to look outside of her narrow, boxed off view of the world around her.

If you want, you can see the individual frames and some earlier versions of this animation over on my tumblr , plus some doodles of this character.

I love this! The style kinda reminds me ofΒ Yoshimichi Tamura-- but idk that's just me UvU

I do feel like her expression changes a little too quickly, but the way you drew is absolutely mint! I love how fierce that snare is!Β Keep it up!

Thank you! I just googled Yoshimichi Tamura and HOLY CRAP is he the guy who designed Helga from Atlantis?? I love that character's design! Honestly I drew a bit of influence from it for Scarlett's design but I didn't actually reference the character. Looking at it now, they are pretty darn similar though (I guess my memory's better than I thought lol) and I should maybe try to differentiate them a bit more...

And yeah, her expression does change a little too quickly. It looked fine at 16 fps but I chose to increase the frame-rate to make some other parts of the animation work better. Probably should've included more frames to compensate, but I was too lazy. Thanks for the input

Also, "mint" is a great adjective I don't hear often enough lol.

i feel like when her head turns its a bit too quick?
or like its missing a frame?
idk
other than that beautiful work!

Thanks! And yeah, her expression change and her head turning to the right are both a little too fast. They looked fine at 16 fps but I increased the frame-rate because other parts of the animation looked weird at that speed. I probably should've included more frames to compensate, but eh, I was too lazy. Anyway, thanks for the input

that'd probably do it. yeah.
Well other than that it looks fantastic.
idk why but it reminds me of the blonde woman from Atlantis?
Really great work~

I like the design of the blonde woman from Atlantis (Helga) a lot and I think it had a subconscious influence when I was designing this character. I recently googled Helga and realized they look pretty darn similar (like wow, the last time I watched Atalantis was years ago but they totally look like they could be sisters or something). So I'm probably gonna have to change Scarlett around a lil' bit more. And thanks

This is totally awesome and I can see why you say it's a bit jittery. The first turn kind of stalls a bit, but the second was executed marvelously! Maybe slow the frame rate for that first turn or leave out a few frames. Other than that, well done!

Thank you! I kinda intended for her head to move at an inconsistent rate to make it more interesting (so that stall was intentional on my part), but yeah, I see how the first turn is a little to fast. Thanks for the input

Thank you! And yeah, it does look pretty Disney-esque (I was kind of thinking of Tarzan while working on it, so that makes sense).

Its a gorgeous animation, with the way you paid attention to even the smallest details. I'm sure with more practice you'll streamline the process to produce the same or better quality in a much more efficient time span.

Thanks! Honestly, it probably would've gone a lot more quickly if I didn't have to fix so many mistakes. Animation requires a lot of planning and if you mess something up on one frame you usually need to modify several surrounding frames. So yeah, I hope I'll get better and faster at it in the future.
