Christians are assholes. This should be a label of someone who is ignorant not atheist. Which includes a bigger demo of Christianity.

Well, really both of them were not originally christian holidays.

Yes they were, they were just moved to take place on the same day as the Spring Orthadox to appease the druids.

But they were both made up of pagan holidays! n.n; And I wouldn't exactly say with such "Christ like" motives either

I'm not sure if you know this, but Christians have celebrated Christ for a LONG time. They celebrated his return from death every year, and did it on the same DAY as the druids' Spring Orthodox. Easter isn't a pagan holiday. Its celebrated on the day of a pagan holiday that has nothing to do with Christ's return in order to appease the druids.

Okay. The point you wish to convey is totally true....but that's human nature in general. Christianity actually took root from MANY Pagan based ideals, and I know you're going to just deny it(I smelled bible monger from a mile away). Bible mongers aren't my favorite people but the point is that there is unity in ALL religions no matter which one it is. The text tells all, people just have to get off their fat asses and actually look through story after story and factual book. You can't deny there is a connection between Paganism and Christianity(and so many other religions).

Of course theres a connection between Christianity and other religions. Its not Bible-Mongering to suggest, however, that Atheists celebrating Easter not for the religious symbolism, but for the free candy, are douchebags.

it is a holy day to a large portion of the world, and to exploit it for something so frivilous as candy is disgusting.

Since I'm awkward I'm just gonna post a reply to a post put up in January now.

Anyways.

I celebrate holidays like Christmas and Easter for the family togetherness- not for the religious significance. I don't think that hiding candy for my little brother and our whole family having fun finding them means we're going to Hell, if it does exist.

Sorry if I'm not making sense to you. I'm sleepy XD

cant we just give and receive chocolate and gifts for their own sake and on the same day

No Christians have to complain about it when they should just pray. Like with medical science, why should Christians be able to use hospitals and doctors when they believe a god is greater than that.

LOL too true. I've meet too many Atheists like this.

And is that a quote from one of my Stamps I smell?

It's just ungrateful idiots that think like this. Mostly Christians but many people stereotype Atheists like this for some reason...

It probably is. I remember that quote from a stamp in Brutal-Rage submissions, so probably.

Generally Athiests buy their own shit while you guys are at church.

I personally don't care. I don't even know why I'm commenting on this thing. I'm Wiccan so to me it's just what you expect in a Christian nation.

Christmas I'm playing on celebrating Winter Soltace (While getting prezzies)

Well, Easter used to be a pagan fertility holiday that Saint Patrick bastardized to convert pagans without having to change around their holidays. That's where the Easter bunny and the eggs come from.

RagingArtist In reply to Shorttrumpetchick [2011-04-25 00:57:46 +0000 UTC]

Easter was Christianity's attempt to please everyone by placing the celebration of Christ's rebirth on the important day of the druids, The Spring Equinox. You are correct about the rabbit and eggs.

But tell me, are you a druid? If not then this point is mute.

Shorttrumpetchick In reply to RagingArtist [2011-04-25 01:00:52 +0000 UTC]

My point was that Easter was not originally a Christian holiday. While I agree with your message about candy, the candy doesn't come from the Christian part of the holiday.

RagingArtist In reply to Shorttrumpetchick [2011-04-25 01:05:41 +0000 UTC]

"Easter" is the celebration of Christ's rebirth. The fact that it is placed on the Spring Equinox does not effect its message, nor did the spring equinox have candy distributed originally. It is a development only recently that candy is distributed on Easter.

Ok. So it's big business trying to cash in on a popular holiday.

RagingArtist In reply to Shorttrumpetchick [2011-04-25 01:09:33 +0000 UTC]

Yep. Because EVERYONE wants to get in on Easter, not just Christians.

Shorttrumpetchick In reply to RagingArtist [2011-04-25 01:11:37 +0000 UTC]

They've done that with other holidays too. Christmas was probably the worst victim of this.
