Hi fellas!I'm really trying to improve my digital painting skills. Here's my latest trial on Photoshop: a pic of Super Sonic against the Death Egg (gotta love this name), in an ancient time when rolling and jumping was all you needed to play a good game. Nothing about pressing slightly a button to hold a guy, then another to draw your weapon then, while holding the other two, aim whith the directional and then shoot with ANOTHER button (whoa... I'm felling dizzy!).
Well... have you ever noticed the reseamblance between Super Sonic and a Dragon Ball Super Sayan? They both grow strong, faster and can fly - and, most noticeably, the change the eyes color and the hair become golden, shiny and spiky!

Awesome pic! I'd just like to add that in line of the Sonic-Saiyan comparison, I'd say Vegeta and Shadow also feel pretty parallel, dontcha think? Maybe you should give a pic showing the 4 a shot!

The Super Saiyans and Super Sonic are both derived from the same japanese legend. Or at least that's the story I heard.
Dragon Ball follows it more closely, whereas Sonic mostly takes the super form from it.

Actually this is a screen shot from City of Heroes of my hero.
I dunno the legend, but it's about a monkey that transforms in the full moon light and uses a magic extending pole and rides on clouds.

So it's the Sayuki legend, yes. It's about a monk who travels the world and encounters a lot of... things. Among them, there is a monkey (Son Goku) who was cursed by Amaterasu, the goddess of Sun, because he was so mischievous. She put a slave crown on him that stopped him when he was thinking of trouble...
Goku also is the monkey who thought he can do anything and go anywhere he wanted to, but then he realized he was only running on the palm of Buddha.

That's an interesting connection...did you know that the Death Egg was a spoof of the Death Star from Star Wars?
