Description Excuse my expression. I was caught incredibly off-guard in this.

This costume is [hopefully] Columbia from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The corset was hand-made from my own pattern.
The coat'n'tails was heavily modified from the Burda '7986' pattern, and is fully lined in black satin.
The hat is a generic costume-shop top-hat, extended to be taller, and then fully covered.
The ribbon on the shorts was individually and painstakingly hand-stitched.
I added a seamline to the back of the fishnets, because I couldn't find any to buy.
The outfit was finished of with red hairspray, a pair of blue socks, black Mary Jane shoes, and a handful of friends.

This costume has to be the hardest to make, particularly because I was doing it all with a broken thumb [you can see the splint on my right hand].

This is really a work in progress. I've yet to make the sequinned corset.

Check out my comment at DanniDoll's post of her Little Nell costume picture and look for NumbuhXX's comment about a Rocky Horror Picture Show sequel. It was a lot that I wrote and I don't feel like writing it again. Β But if you are a fan of that movie then you might find my entry about "Shocktreatment" interesting!

Now that's dedication lol. I'm looking to put together a Columbia costume myself. Doubt mine will look nearly as cool as this though.

It's super easy actually.
I bought a pair of black shorts from a second-hand store and a bunch of rolls of ribbon. It was just down to figuring out the order of colours. There are plenty of screen shots to reference from.
For her jacket, I bought a woman's tuxedo/tails jacket, and just changed the pattern for the tails to look right [was very easy].
I bought a normal costume tophat and glued on the same fabric I used for the jacket.

There are tonnes of reference pics on here: [link]

If you need any help, just ask!!

Wow, I was quite impressed *before* you mentioned the broken thumb. I used to go to RHPS all the time, and I've never seen a Columbia that well done!

Thank you!
I made the costume to go see it as a stage production in Sydney late last year, but I made sure I put enough effort into it that I can wear it again.. And so glad I did.

I can't suggest hand-stitching ribbon onto shorts with a broken thumb.. But I did learn to do things left-handed fairly quickly.
