My word,... This is one of the most beautiful pieces of Breath of Fire 2 art that I have seen!.. I remember that scenario (although not so much a "bad ending" compared to the wait choice ending) it was filled with very powerful emotions.. And I'd say you captured Katt's (Linn's) very well. The dragon's Tear seems very mesmerising aswell, lovely color and swirl to be sure. The colors on Ryu are also very nice I feel. The glow really really pulls it all together for my eye, plain and simple... I find this to be a very astounding piece, so, Thank you for this awesome work

Ah... bad end.
Very pretty picture, particularly the colours. Katt's nose looks a bit off, though.

What is the world would make Katt cry? Will you tell me?

apparently there was a 'bad' ending where something like this scene happened (according to those that have actually seen it, which I have not!)

That's a really awesome picture! I think you did a really great job on so many things in here, so bare with me. This'll probably be kinda long.
Disclaimer-that I put in front of every critique I give: The following is my opinion of your art, not of you. And since this is only my opinion (one of billions in the world), you're free to disagree with me. Hope this helps to improve your future art pieces.
I don't know BoF, but I think it's great that you picked a tiger chick to draw. Her anatomy is good, and nothing is distracting. I like the way you drew her hair, and tears, but that's personal preference.
I can't tell if she sitting on the back of furry beast or on a grassy knoll, but that's the nature of the white out effect. I'd guess grassy knoll though. Anyway, with this composition, it doesn't matter much anyway.
Love the texture you used on the dragon. Very cool, and interesting to see you experiment. No wonder this pic took so long!
The shading you did all around is really good, and quite an improvement. There's alot of contrast from dark to light and really makes my eyes roam from important part to important part. I don't know if you planned it, but this picture really leads me in particular directions. Having the green eye next to the red hair right in the middle of the page was a good idea too.
I like the opal/jewel thing, very glowly. Again, good to see you experiment. Perhaps if you're looking for a particular effect, you might want to find reference.
I like the orange light in front and the blue light behind the tiger chick. I can't tell if the blue light is coming from the dragon, the opal/jewel or from nothing in the picture because it's a collage because the light is pretty similar. If it's from nothing, that's cool. if it's from the dragon or jewel, I think the blue light needs to hit some other areas of her, like her tail and her right thigh.
And I like the white/grey flecks and the effect you used for her tears. The white/grey flecks add to another wise standard background, and balance out the other textures. The swirlies around the jewel is a nice effect too. It just adds to the picture in a subtle way. I guess i appreciated that you thought about it, rather than leaving it alone (which you could have done).
Btw, I like you composition. It feels balanced, and placing a red character in a blue background, plus the tears, really makes the picture 'feel' sad.

thank you much! The blue glow that hits her right side is in fact supposed to be coming from the opal (the "dragon tear" as it's called), so yes, I should the tail for getting some blue treatment :]
I was afraid of what would happen by putting a vibrant red and warm character on such a blue backdrop...I was constantly wondering if I should de-saturate her colors, but I'm glad to hear your perspective of it. The contrast is selling the emotion here-
Oh man, that dragon texture*_*. I was actually painting right on top of the original 2001 colored pencils, which gave me some weird 'base texture' to begin building upon. Add on to that all the contrast/level tweaks to darken and redarken her (yes, apparently that dragon is supposed to be female!). I'd say the most gratifying moments were when I would paint, paint, paint, and then decide to darken the contrast. The end result was almost always better, making me wonder why I just didn't pick a darker color to begin with
I remember having a time trying to figure out the composition back in 2001--and even today I wondered just how well these elements went together (a disembodied dragon head can either be good or very, very bad for a drawing). She was originally sitting on a patch of grass and somewhere along the line I decided to forgo tangible land and put her in some kind of 'grief dimension' with crazy phantom grass :]
Glad to hear you like the grey flecks in the bkgrnd too-- I would have wanted them to be more like flaming wispy embers, but I didn't have time to figure out why my filters weren't working like I wanted
Thanks again! The input I get from Miss and you guys is invaluable

Taming the Photoshop Beast rather well. I knew you had it in you!
Very nice work, and definately your best coloring job I've seen yet. The colors are very expressive, and I like that you dipped into using different types of brushes. The picture has a gentle quality regardless of where you look, and I think people will really like that.
It'll sell. Definately worth the wait.
