Do you have an idea how tall and thick it actually is?Β

It varied...I would estimate that it was only about 3 or 4 feet high in most places, and about 2 or 3 feet thick. But I didn't take any measurements so don't quote me on that, lol

That strikes me as a little odd. A 3-4ft wall wouldn't hold much more than cattle, definitely not a lot of barbarians from coming south. But then again, it's been quite a few centuries since it was built and who knows how tall it actually was back then. Thanks for reply and fave, by the way. I'd love to see it for myself someday. I'd dearly miss forests and woods, though.Β

The wall has been robbed out over the centuries and parts of it just fell down as time progressed. Β It would have originally been around 8ft in height although there are several opinions on that subject. There are lots of Forests and woodland in this beautiful area. Β

It struck me as odd at first, too. Apparently a lot of stones were taken over the years to build houses and other structures, so it probably isn't as tall as it used to be.Β
I've also read that the wall's main purpose was to prevent bands of raiders fromΒ being able to make quick get aways. The theory is that it was easy to cross the wall when not carrying anything, but if you had bags full of stolen goods or animals, getting over the wall would take more effort and increase the risk of being found by one of the Roman soldiers that patrolled the wall.Β Plus the wall was also built along a ridge of hills, so it seemed taller than it was.Β
Sorry for the long explanation, lol.
It was still impressive, even though it's relatively small. I really recommend it

Nothing to apologise for. Thank you for the explanation. It makes sense. And maybe the wall had some wooden posts/watchtowers which simply didn't endure the teeth of time. Also, thank you for the watch. I have some fantasy bracer in making, so, there'll be at least something to look at over at my gallery.

No problem! Thank you for the watch, as well. I look forward to seeing your new bracers
