Originally posted on Tumblr as my Friday sketch challenge piece this week.I thumbnailed this comic a while back and just never got around to doing it until now, and thought it'd make for a fun sketch challenge piece (especially since I couldn't think of anything else). Plus it's some fun character development for Lukie, who's turned out to be (in my head, for now, anyways) extremely empathic and super nice, which is great for holding conversations with strangers on a daily basis, but not so great when ladies see him as a "nice guy to talk to" rather than a potential romantic partner.
Also, this takes place when he was working Property Crimes (this series is going to have WAY too many references to The Good Guys by the time I'm through with it...), hence the notification of the capture of a lightbulb-breaking vandal rather than the murder investigations he'd be participating in during the current series timeline.
Inked with a Pentel Pocket Brush, which I still don't like as much as a regular brush and yet I keep trying to use it...

Aside from him getting completely shot down, Lukie seems to be rather confident. I . . . I LOVE THAT IN A MAN. *swoon*

He only seems confident because he's so easygoing, he doesn't especially care whether he succeeds or fails (unless of course he's lead to thinking he'll succeed and then gets completely shut down

Awwwwww poor guy! Bahahaha, luckless in love. Lucky at cards?? XD And "extremely empathetic" combined with "YAY he totally cracked his skull open on live TV!" is both weird and totally believable XD

It's like a social empathy, where he can read people's emotions really well and (almost always) is able to play the conversation in a way that ends with the other person walking away happier than when they started, or just the ability to steer clear of any potentially controversial (and therefore potentially upsetting etc) topics in any situation. He's never been seriously hurt in his life though, and doesn't tend to see that actually happening to people except in fictional media (and then, since it's a certain flavor of shounen manga, it's never anything especially visually gruesome), so he tends to view all violence as like an overall harmless videogame, if that makes any sense...?

Ooooh. That's a cold move. I can somewhat relate. There was I guy in my Geology class that I had a crush on, and we started hanging out, but then he went and got a girlfriend over break. :/
