I think the idea for the pairing came from the manga-readers, kururu and Keroro are much more friendly with eachother and hang out a lot in the manga.

Yeah, I love them. They are pretty devious together sometimes in the anime too though it's just harder to catch them. I love it when Kururu calls him "Kekero-kun", it's almost affectionate for him. XD
