Hydrangea is one of a set of 26 year old triplets that survived the destruction of their home, people,and way of life in a brutal internecine conflict known to the survivors as The Sundering. Her sisters are named Azalea and Moonseed.

Hydrangea is considered by anyone that knows the triplets as "the hyper one."

She is always moving, never able to stay still for a moment. Her blood sugar levels are joked to be approaching those of Pinkie Pie, but Hydrangea is actually in a perpetual state of nervous excitement, a form of PTSD brought on by her horrible experiences during The Sundering.

Hydrangea is not quite as friendly as you might imagine, far preferring the company of her sisters or the few actual friends she has. She has a tendency to be annoying, overly talkative and questions everything. However, this is something she is very aware of, and she does want to settle down and have fawns at some point, so she is working on her behaviour and demeanour with a therapist.

When it comes to matters of the heart, Hydrangea is bisexual and polyamorous, but when it comes down to it, she just wants to be loved for the doe that she is. In a relationship, she is deeply affectionate, and just wants to be physically close with those that she loves. Among the Nightkin, she is not considered conventionally attractive, but pony stallions in particular often find her quite cute.

Physically, she is smaller than most Nightkin, but is possessed of surprising strength and endurance. She does have a number of scars over her body, including some facial ones that she hides under her mane. It should also be stated that Hydrangea does not need to sleep much, getting by on about three hours per night. This is a peculiarity of her that stems from her childhood, and she doesn't know why she is like this.

Hydrangea, like her sisters was deeply affected by the horrific internecine conflict that destroyed her tribe, and this is where her nervousness stems from- a permanent flight response that she is barely controlling all the time. In the fighting, Hydrangea lost everyone she cared about, apart from her sisters. Naturally, she is utterly terrified of fighting and loud noises, but she doesn't scream, she almost invariably laughs nervously before sprinting away to perceived safety.

It should be noted that she has a pet weasel named Monty that effectively lives in her mane, and only leaves for toilet purposes. He shares her personality, and can sometimes be spotted peering out of her mane at whoever's she is speaking to.
