This one is Platyplectus ornatum, aka ornate burrowing frog. You usually only see them just after rain when the ground is still damp.

Must be an in joke, I can assure you i intend to be wearing clothes whilst handling reptiles with lots of scratchy bitey parts. But if ur into that stuff i wouldn't be surprised if there was a whole section of it on here.
As for the lens it looks a pretty good start for wildlife, canon really are pushing out a heap of efs mount lenses nowdays. You only thing you might struggle the 1.1m minimal focal length for macro. Unless you decide on a dedicated macro lens getting an ef mount lens and some kenco extension tubes is a good compromise

before you get extension tubes for your current lens make sure they are designed for efs mount. most are made for ef mount only. Also be aware that extension tubes will rob you of light so you will need to shoot under strong ambient of flash to use them. your probably better off waiting and saving up for a decent macro lens, they really are a powerful photographic tool. tokina, tamron, sigma etc all make a 1:1 100mm version around $500-600 but if you have the coin get the canon, the glass is just that bit crisper. Also keep a look out on ebay for second hand jobs, lots of people buy lenses use them 2 or 3 times and then sell them in mint condition. Also strobes are really important. None of the shots i take would be doable under natural light alone. Check out the strobist blog.[link] . It is pretty much the single most important data base for learning how to use light anywhere, period. Even if you don't intend on buying a flash for a long time reading this blog will teach you how to use ambient light and your pop up flash to best effect.
