Whait, that explains why Klaymen could have his whole arm eaten off in Skullmonkey, just to look at his skeleton arm and say it's cool.

Aw, I have to agree with everyone else- poor Kleo.
Fantastic comic, once again.
But doesn't Klaymen feel pain, too? He made all those "ouch" noises when he was falling down the stairs in the game.

Oh no, somehow I didn't get notified about your comment or something. D: Sorry about replying so late, and thank you.
I think when he falls down the stairs it could be general getting-winded noises, or fright, or just there for comic effect since lots of things don't make THAT much sense. xD But from the way I see it Hoborg would spare all his creations the notion of pain. I can't find any real evidence against that, and since we know Klogg can it makes his transformation/punishment more serious.

That whole thing where she had half her face ripped off might've been nicer without it. :<

yeah, on the other hand she didn't even show that she was in pain...

She's REALLY used to sucking it up and never showing weakness, but that one time nearly did make her cry, that's big for her. |D

yeah, it is. I guess she's found a way to express it in anger. She seemed very angry with her face mutilated...

Wouldn't you be? XD
But yeah, that was the point, their relationship revolved around escalating anger and revenge, which is a classic cartoon stereotype, but in real terms that stuff would hurt and be dangerous.
And she's still GOT that anger because he had the last word before everything changed. If it had ended on her turn, she might have accepted it better. This way she's STILL stuck thinking about how to get revenge now that it's her 'turn'.

Wouldn't I be angry? I'd be probably lying on the floor bleeding to death and probably unconscious. So I don't know :]
Anyway, poor girl. I wonder if she is going to have her revenge someday.

I adore the simple yet uncompromising way of showing the difference between Kleo and the other Hoodians... And the colours. Quater, I love those colours.

Is the point that regular Hoodians can't feel pain but Klogg made Kleo able to?
9D Ahhh... that really sucks. Poor Kleo.

Yerp, that's it. We know Klogg can too, so she's just figured out that he had to SPECIFICALLY give her weaknesses like that, just to be, well, mean.
Of maybe he did it so he wouldn't be alone in it. /D

Perhaps both 9D I think the latter is the larger reason, though~

For some reason, anything involving Kleo gets me emotional. It's strange, it may be creepy, I dunno. But she's just so Shakespeare. She's too deep of a character to fit into the Neverhood, and I guess that's why this comic works.
Man, I'm serious, if you adapted Kleo into a human(or not human, whatever) character and created your own world around her and made it into a book...well, I know I'd read it.
Keep up the great stuff! Every little reveal gets me more and more excited to find out what happens in the end.

Pyreo In reply to ZazzyPaws [2008-12-17 01:10:58 +0000 UTC]
Wow, man...
I kinda agree there, in that I already know she's too... complex. The Neverhood's really set into black and white and good and bad but she crosses that line a lot. That's what I like doing, but it wouldn't really work WITH the story it was originally trying to tell. Kleo's a huge grey area and this continuation eventually asks questions I don't think people would... 'want' me to ask.
But yeah, if I ever thought of a way to modify this into something different... it doesn't seem that possible because so much is rooted in the canon set-up, but yeah, maybe.

ZazzyPaws In reply to Pyreo [2008-12-17 01:34:58 +0000 UTC]
I think it would be possible, if you created a world on the basis of simplicity of right and wrong, and left out anything related to the Neverhood. It would be really interesting.
...why is it so much easier for me to picture neat ideas when it's not for my own writing?
But yeah, keep up the awesome stuff!
