I'm so happy for both of you! Cattle dogs are my type of dog too and I know just what you mean. They can be challenging, but some people are just perfectly suited to them. In Australia, there are loads of abandoned ones because families think they are adorable, and then are unable to handle them. In my experience, they are the most incredible dogs, but very intelligent, strong-willed and independent. Violence, aggression, yelling doesn't work for them at all. You have to convince them to believe you and that you know what you are doing, and some people are just too anxious and highly strung, so they lose their cool in the training stage and cattle dogs don't trust people who don't trust themselves. If you never had cattle dog puppies, they are monsters, incredibly cute but they bite continuously, until they finish teething. I previously rescued a year old cattle dog that was with me for many years, but I never saw her as a puppy. Now I have Jasper, and he was incredibly challenging when he was small, but now I swear he understand entire sentences! And he is a very good boy
I hope you and Mu have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year
