History

Claire was born in a little town of Fiore, the guild of that town was "Kelpie".
When she was old enough and had acquired an acceptable control over her magic, she "officially" joined the guild; all her family belonged to the guild so, since she was a baby, she was treated like one of them. Kelpie was a cozy place full of fun and joy. However, when the master died and another mage took her place, the guild slowly began to change. Little by little the guild was filled with corruption, the mages who joined it were dark mages, sought by law; the missions they performed were no longer to help the people but to collect taxes and get money to expend on themselves. Many of the mages that Claire knew since baby and who had been in the guild since she joined them started to leave, but the master did not allow them to leave their guild so easily. In exchange for letting them go, they had to pay a high sum of money. Whoever left without paying, would die. Many mages paid their way out and others died trying to escape.
Claire for her part could not afford to leave the guild, all her family was part of it and it was impossible to collect enough money for everyone to be free to leave ... So she worked for the guild that she had grow to hate. She did not want her mother or sisters to be directly involved in the activities of the guild, so the missions assigned to her family were always performed by her. This continued for many years until, during the mission to obtain "Nirvana", she encountered Fairy Tail mages who defeated her guild leader, bringing freedom to those who wanted it.
Since that day she is a proud member of Fairy Tail.
