Description "And I said, there's no such thing as a Raikou in the Sinnoh region," Jake said again in exacerbation.

Haze huffed her cheeks, "Fine then, don't believe me, but I know what I saw and it was definitely a Raikou."

Dagger who had been listening in the whole time sighed, "What are you two arguing about this time?"

"Haze believes she saw an Entei last week on our mission, and now thinks she saw a Raikou yesterday as well," Jake said.

"Oh come on, do you really have that little faith in my word?"

"Maybe," Jake smirked.

"Oh you can both go-"

*KABOOM* "Waaahhh!"

A door in the hallway blew off its hinges and into the opposite wall. Dense black smoke filtered out with the sound of a delayed alarm going off.

"Not again," Jake and Haze both sighed.

The trio ran to the open door way, choking on the harsh fumes that lingered in the smoke.

"Professor Alex, are you alright in there?" Jake called out between coughs.

"I-I'm alright," a hand waved from behind an overturned desk.

The average young man known as Professor Alex wavered up from behind the desk with a groan. He was pretty thin and lanky. His hair was a reddish brown swept back and spiky with a small bunch pulled back into a ponytail. A few stubbles lined his chin since he shaved only every once in a while. A goofy smile shined on his face from behind his cracked and crooked full moon, wire rim glasses. He wore a classic white lab coat over his PEF gear which was splotched with soot along with the rest of his body.

"Ah man, and I thought I had it that time," Professor Alex frowned as he looked around his disaster of a lab.

Jake patted Professor Alex on the back, "Don't worry, we have some time to help out."

"Thank you, I'm sorry I'm such a failure."

"No problem, and you're not a failure," Jake said as he, Dagger, and Haze began to reorganize the lab, "By the way, what were you working on this time?"

Professor Alex had just thrown out his fourth pair of broken glasses and got another pair from his stash in a locker.

"I'm glad you asked," Professor Alex replied with a prideful tone, "You know how most people are unable to understand pokemon speech? Well, I've been trying to develop a way to tap into people's innate potential for this, but I just can't seem to find the missing link between the fluxuation in speech."

"So you decide to blow up your lab again to find the connection," Haze chuckled.

"Knock it off Haze," Jake glared.

"Why, what did she say?" Professor Alex asked, unknowing of pokemon speech himself.

"Nothing," Jake and Haze replied simultaneously.

"Well ok, thanks again for your help," Professor Alex said as he picked up the last of the papers that had been strewn about.

"Say, while you're here, would you mind helping me with an experiment that I've been wanting to run?"

Haze immediately looked worried and said defensely, "Oh no, not after last time, It took a week for my feathers to change back."

Jake laughed as he remembered the last experiment they took part of. Professor Alex asked Haze to try a new nutrient rich pokeblock which accidentally turned her bright purple for nearly a week.
Professor Alex noticed Haze's reaction, "Oh don't worry, no more experimental pokeblocks for now. I actually need you for the experiment, Jake."

It was Jake's turn to go on the defensive, "Uh, well, Haze, don't we have to go to the training center today?"

Haze got behind Jake and shoved him forward, smirking all the while, "I think we can spare a few minutes."

Jake had no choice but to accept the offer.

"Awesome," Professor Alex bolstered as he rushed to fiddle with some equipment, "This could be the breakthrough I've been looking for, thank you so much."

Jake caught a hint of a smile on Dagger out of the corner of his eye and gave a 'You're next' glare.

"Please, sit down here," Professor Alex said from a set of odd looking machines.

Jake took a seat in a simple folding chair as Professor Alex swiftly stuck all kinds of electrodes on Jake's arms and face. He flipped on many of the switches and dials and the machines hummed into life. Professor Alex carefully laid a wire and light bulb cladded helmet on Jake's head and strapped on tight.

"There we go, it's not too tight on you is it?" Professor Alex asked anxiously.

"No, no it's fine, but what is it?" Jake asked.

"This little widget is gonna help me scan your brain through all the different wave patterns it emits, but first…," Professor Alex began mumbling to himself before pulling a syringe from a drawer full of a fluorescent blue liquid, "Huh, oh, again don't worry. This is just a contrast so the helmet can make a clearer scan."

Jake started to worry, but he was already set up and didn't want to be rude and leave, so he just merely nodded. The liquid contrast from the syringe felt like ice as it ran through Jake's veins, but quickly began to warm up in no time.

"Ok," Professor Alex exclaimed excitedly as he took a spot next to one of the machines, "Now we'll just do a baseline check before we get started."

Jake felt a small tickle at the base of his temples as Professor Alex flipped on a couple more switches.

"Now, like I said before, I'm trying to find a link between people who understand pokemon and the innate potential that everyone else has that was theorized a couple years ago. All I nee you to do is talk to your pokemon and I'll keep an on the readings to see if there is any unique waves compared to normal patterns."

"So, uh, what should we talk about," Jake asked, unable to think of anything.

"Anything, I just need you to be listening when Haze of Dagger talks," Professor Alex replied quickly.

"And what's so funny all of a sudden," Jake said, catching Haze's snicker.

She chuckled a little more, "Oh nothing, you just look ridiculous in that set up."

"Almost as ridiculous as a purple Combusken?" Jake retorted.

Professor Alex was busy overlooking the results from the chart spewing from one machine, "Hmm, nothing irregular on the Alpha or Beta waves. Maybe if I increase the voltage."

Professor Alex dialed a couple knobs and Jake felt the tickle from earlier jump up to a wavering itch.

"You know what, why don't we get the Mr. Mime here to say something," Haze said irritated.

Dagger stood wordlessly for a moment, "So what exactly happened that turned Haze purple?"

"Sweet Arceus, can we just drop that subject?!"

Jake started laughing as he told Dagger about the said event; Haze just trying to get Jake to ignore the embarrassing details.

"Wait, what was that?" Professor Alex said to no one in particular, "It looks like a new set of waves…dang, it's too fuzzy to tell. Maybe I can crank it up just a little more."

Again, a few more knobs turned; Jake jerked in the chair and pressed his fingers against his temples.

"Jake, are you ok?" Dagger asked.

"Ow, yeah, just felt like a pinch or something."

"Oh Arceus, sorry Jake. I didn't mean to do that," Professor Alex apologized, "I'll just dial the juice back- oh crap…"

"What?" Jake asked, the pain starting to increase a little.

"Um, the neuron spectro-analyzer isn't responding at the moment. Not to worry though, I can fix it…I think."

Another machine started to spark, fizzle, and smoke. Jake felt his heart leaping out of his chest with every beat. A cold shroud washed through him like the contrast that he was given.

"Jake are you alright, you're starting to look pale," Haze said, troubled herself.

"Just a little dizzy," Jake replied, his mind whirling.

*Bam* the first machine went up a shower of sparks.

"Ah, Haze, Dagger help me put this out," Professor Alex cried wildly from the smoldering machine.

As Haze and Dagger went to help, Jake tried to lift himself up to help as well. He reached up to remove the helmet but his body suddenly wouldn't respond, he was paralyzed. His skin itched like there was something underneath crawling inside. The cold veil constricted and dropped in temperature. Jake's vision faded as he heard the sounds of far away shouts of Professor Alex and Haze.

*Kaboom*

Jake was thrown into to the opposing wall and laid still as some pain receded.

"Haze…Dagger…Jake, can anyone hear me?" Professor Alex called through the dust and smoke.

Haze and Dagger sounded off first as Jake tried to stand up with much difficulty. Jake couldn't see clearly and his head pounded with a profound ringing.

"Professor, Haze Dagger, are you all alright?"

Professor Alex coughed before calling back, "Phew, you had me worried there Jake. You ok?"

"Yeah," Jake replied, his vision returning.

He shook his head a little to clear his mind. He still had a major headache, but at least he could still feel no missing body parts including his tail.

"Yeah, I think-!"

'Wait, tail?!'

Jake had to do a double take over his shoulder to indeed find a white bushy tail wagging at his command.

"GAAAHHHHH!"

Jake, what's wrong…," Haze asked before the debris cleared, "Holy Miltank!"

"What's going on Ja-…Jake is that you," Professor Alex cleaned and readjusted his glasses.

Even Dagger had a quick flash of surprise when he saw his partner. It wasn't just a tail that Jake gained; he looked over the rest of his body. He was a slender and slightly shorter version of an Arcanine. He still retained streaks of black of his own hair on his head and his brown eyes as well. His vest somehow retained enough shape to fit him snuggly around his new body.

Jake started freaking out again, "Professor Alex, what the heck happened- oomph."

Jake tripped after a failed attempt of walking on four legs.

Haze couldn't help herself and started giggling uncontrollably, "Ok, this is more ridiculous than you as a human circuit board, ha!"

This isn't exactly the best time for that Haze," Jake said as he wobbled to stay balanced while standing, "Professor Alex, what happened to me?"

Professor Alex gawked as he pushed he glasses further up his nose, "Um, well to be honest, this is a pretty new development to me. Though is seems that whatever happened only affected your physical appearance since I can still understand you. Hold on, let me run a physical on you."

"Wait, what," Jake exclaimed as Professor Alex excitedly ran his examination of Jake, poking and prodding at Jake's body.

"Hmm, overall muscular and skeletal systems appear normal in comparison," Professor Alex mumbled, flexing one of Jake's front paws, "Coloration and coat are pretty normal too."

Professor Alex plucked a hair from Jake's head, getting a quick yelp from him, "Sensory receptors are fine and follicle strength is great. This will make an excellent sample."

Haze continued to snicker as she watched Jake's reactions. He glared at her, only making her giggle a little more.

Professor Alex retrieved a stethoscope from a drawer and put it on, pressing the other end to Jake's chest.

"Just breath normally for a second…ok, breathing and heart rate are normal," Professor Alex clapped his hands together, "Well, you seem fit, uh, for an Arcanine at least. Tell me, do you feel any different?"

"You mean besides the tail," Jake asked sarcastically, wagging his new appendage, "So how did this happen?"

"Right, uh, did I forget to mention that the contrast and the analyzer were still in their development stages," Professor Alex smiled awkwardly, "I believe that the contrast when it was charged with the electro-particles from the analyzer, it altered your body's cellular structure, perhaps."

"Does that mean this is permanent?" Jake asked nervously.

"I really can't say, though this gives me a new theory into my research. Can you take a few steps around the room; I want to check your motor skills."

Jake wobbled again on all fours as he got used to walking. It became a lot easier with practice, but it still felt pretty awkward.

"Ok, so your bipedal instincts don't seem to be affecting your quadropedal frame, for the most part. Wow, this is exciting, I really wish I had more time to run more tests," Professor Alex said, lost in thought.

"Professor!" Jake exclaimed.

"Right, right, I should look into how to reverse the effects."

"So in the mean time, we get to look after Rover here," Haze chuckled.

Jake relayed the message, leaving out the nickname.

"Well, yes," Professor Alex said, flipping open a laptop, "Just until I find a reversal method."

"Aah, it'll be just like raising an Eevee," Haze said jokingly as she scratched Jake behind his ear.

Jake scowled, but surprisingly he was enjoying the little treatment. Haze got a good laugh when she noticed this.

*Beep, beep, beep* *Beep, beep, beep*

Everyone swiveled in the direction of the noise. Jake's Receiver rhythmically chimed with an incoming message. Jake kept fumbling with the device on the ground between his paws until Dagger picked it up for him.

He took a moment to read over the message, "…Dakota wants us in the Intel room, we have a new mission."

"Oh crap," Jake muttered, "Professor Alex, we're being called in for a mission, how long will that reversal method take."

"What?!" Professor Alex jumped, "I only just got started. There's no way I can finish it that fast…I guess I'm gonna have to go with you to explain."

'Oh man, I am in so much trouble,' Professor Alex thought nervously.

"We might as well get going. Let's go Rover," Haze joked again.

Jake scowled again as they left the lab to head out to their next mission.

I have to say Jake is taking this pretty well. What a coincidence, Stephon happens to know a profesor just like that. But she's a bit more diabolical. Man Jake boys are gonna crackon him, and Sarah. . .well this might just help you score. Haze needs to use this to her advantage, she might just have a chance. I can't wait till the next.

Yeah, thanks to many other experiments Jake has heard about from the professor he isn't completely overwhelmed. Plus Jake hasn't quite met Sarah yet, but I'm working on a rough draft for that. And what are you insinuating about Haze *stare*

Well I actually meant to say Ryo, but this is still Haze's chance to mess with Jake.
