Description The standoff continued as neither side made a move. The elderly woman became a bit more impatient as the newcomers made no attempt to leave.

"This is your final warning," the elderly woman shouted, "Leave, now!"

Jake was the first to speak up, "Hold on ma'am, we're with the PEF; the Pokemon Elite Forces."

"I know, and you are not welcome here," the elderly woman spat back.

This honestly shocked everyone as the elderly woman continued.

"I've given you more than enough chances to leave peacefully. If you do not leave now, I can't guarantee Brutus here will be quite as forgiving."

At that, the hulking Magmortar took another step forward. The flames on his body growing more intense as he waited for his master's command.

It was Sarah's turn to step forward now, "Wait, Miss Elder you have to listen to us."

The elderly woman gasped and blinked a few times, "Sarah, is that you?"

Sarah nodded, "Yes Miss Elder, it's me."

Jake, Haze, and Dagger took a moment to process what just happened.

"You know her?" Jake asked.

"Yes, remember when I said that my father gets some herbal supplements from Celestic Town? He always went to pick up the shipments himself and I occasionally got to come along. I even met the Elder from time to time, isn't that right Miss Elder?"

The Elder of Celestic Town had remained stunned in silence till she had been spoken to directly.

"Yes, but little Sarah, what are you doing with them?" The Elder asked, putting as much spite into the last word as possible, "Your father said you were working with people who wanted to help the Sinnoh region, not harm it."

"What are talking about Miss Elder? The PEF is helping the Sinnoh region, the last thing we would want to do is put innocent people or pokemon in danger."

The Elder seemed to be conflicted in her thoughts over what she just heard and mulled over her next words carefully.

"Sarah…I can't condone what that organization has done, at least not anything I've heard. And if you've decided to be a part of that evil syndicate, I don't think I can trust you or your father with any further business."

Sarah gasped, looking like she might have been physically hit from the spiteful words. She couldn't help but think that she also just single-handedly ruined her family's reputation and business.

"Brutus, show these traitors that they have overstayed their welcome."

Finally given the command he had patiently waiting for, the Magmortar roared a battle cry and aimed both his arm cannons toward his opponents.

Fade reacted first, his hair bristling with electricity and poised to fight, "That old bag is as stubborn as ever."

"Fade, no."

"Hold on," Jake said before the battle could start, "Please Miss Elder, you said you heard about the PEF's 'misdeeds'. Where did you hear this?"

The Elder shook her head as if disappointed, "As if you and your ring leaders haven't heard of them. They are your sworn enemies and the true defenders of peace in the Sinnoh region; Team Sigma."

The notion was almost laughable were it not for the fact of how serious the situation at hand was. Regardless, Jake and Sarah could hear a light snickering escape both Fade and Haze after a brief moment of silence. Dagger could only facepalm at the statement and how maturely the other two were taking this.

"Miss Elder, you have it all wrong," Sarah recovered, "Team Sigma is the evil organization that's disrupting the peace in the Sinnoh region."

"Miss Elder!" A new figure began to emerge from the mist calling the Elder's name, "I heard some disturbance coming from over here, is everything alright?"

The figure soon came within visibility and made Sarah, Jake, and their pokemon gasp in surprise. It was a Team Sigma grunt, a Meditite flanking either side of him while he strode up as if this was nothing out of the ordinary. The Elder turned to greet the new arrival with a softened expression, as if she too thought this was nothing unusual.

"I am fine, but just as you and your companions warned, the PEF has finally decided to take some action against our fair town."

The grunts that finally turned his attention to the other side of the visible area froze, "Crap, this is way too far ahead of schedule."

The Elder raised an eyebrow, "Ahead of schedule? From what you've been telling me, we should have expected them sooner, wouldn't you agree?"

The grunt suddenly caught himself and tried to calm down, "O-of course Miss Elder, I meant that we wish we had a little more time to prepare. You can't be too prepared, am I right?"

"Quite true, but none the less, they are here and are most likely after the ancient cave glyphs like you said. Though from what I've heard of your prowess, you should be more than a match for these children on your own."

The Team Sigma grunt flinched, taking a step back, but seemed to realize something and took the step back, "Yes, of course I can handle this. Fear not, for I shall show these evil doers their place, hah hah!"

"Does he think he's some kind of super hero?" Haze smirked.

The Elder stepped back to allow the almost visibly shaking grunt to take her place. The two Meditite followed without question, but Jake and Sarah could see the black control bands around their necks.

The Team Sigma grunt unsuccessfully struck a heroic pose as he spoke, "Ok you little brats, you've tortured this fair town for far too long and now you must pay. Now I, Sigma grunt Lyle will have to show you the error of your ways!"

"…Was that supposed to be some kind of clever monologue?" Dagger asked.

"Meditite, show no mercy!"

The two psychic types attacked, both of them charging to get closer before building up Force Palm attacks. Jake and the others jumped out of the way to either side, each Meditite breaking away in turn to attack the separated groups. The first Meditite that broke away charged toward Sarah and Fade, ready to attack. Jake caught this, but was too busy dealing with the other Meditite and had no time to offer any help. Sarah and Fade though proved that they were more than a match as they bobbed and weaved between the Psychic type's attacks as if it wasn't even trying to hit them. Sarah avoided another Feint attack and sent the little Meditite spinning with a kick. With the Meditite in a daze, Fade knocked it out with a low power Thunderbolt. On the other end, Dagger and Haze delivered a double dose of Drain Punch and Blaze Kick and sent the Psychic-type crashing at the stunned Team Sigma grunt's feet.

"Oh crap," The grunt took a shaky step back.

Even The Elder stood back in a bit of shock to how easily the grunt's pokemon were defeated.

She shook it off quickly and turned to address the grunt, "Lyle, surely you're just toying with them, but I don't like how you risked those pokemon's lives like that. I can help you defeat these traitors if you'd like, but I must ask that you please do not do that again."

The grunt blinked a few times, realizing how horribly outmatched he was against these 'brats' and ran away into the fog, "Forget that you old hag, you're on your own!"

Everyone stood in a state of bewilderment and shock at what just happened, especially the town Elder. On the other hand, Fade couldn't help but snicker a little at the grunt's blunt cowardliness, thinking of random insults about how fast the grunt had run away.

"…Well that was rude," The Elder said, "but I still will not let your organization harm my town; Brutus!"

"Elder wait," Sarah tried again before anyone could jump the gun, "We're not the enemy here, Team Sigma is. We won't fight you."

"Sarah, I can tell you mean well, but have to think about stopping Team Sigma and whatever their plan is in this town," Jake also jumped in.

"I know, but we can't end up with the same mentality as Team Sigma by sacrificing others for own benefit."

"…*sigh* You're right, we won't fight if it means putting innocent lives in danger."

With that, Jake signaled for his team to back down with Sarah, but Haze remained prepared to go at it if it meant protecting themselves.

Sarah gave a satisfied nod and began to speak, "Miss Elder, please give us a chance to explain ourselves."

Although the Elder's Magmortar stood menacingly, the Elder herself crossed her arms behind her back and furrowed her brow in concentration.

"Brutus, return," The Elder returned the Magmortar back to his pokeball, "I believe I have misplaced my trust in this Team Sigma."

Relief washed over the members of the PEF at hearing the Elder's decision. The Elder stepped forward, a softened smile and an open arm to welcome her ne found friends.

"Thank you Miss Elder," Sarah shook the Elder's hand.

"No, thank you for showing me who truly has Sinnoh's best interests at heart."

"This is great and all, but I can't help but think we're forgetting something. Oh that's right, Team Sigma," Fade added sarcastically.

Sarah gave him a stern look that said, 'Don't be rude' but he had a point and she had to ask the obvious question.

"Miss Elder, Team Sigma is in your town, plotting to do something that may affect Sinnoh's future negatively. Can you tell us they have been up to?"

The Elder sighed solemnly after she realized that the town's so called 'saviors' were actually quite the opposite, but pushed the thought aside to focus on who she had to help now.

"Team Sigma arrived about a week ago after the fog from Route 210 started to spill into the town. At first, we believed it was by Arceus' will that it was happening or another supernatural occurrence. But the Team Sigma grunts that came to our town convinced us that it was the PEF that was doing it in order to cause uncertainty and chaos. They said that they would help defend the town from an inevitable attack by your organization if we let them study the ancient glyphs in the ruins at the center of town. We believed them when they said that it was for their research on how to make the Sinnoh region a better place, now I am uncertain of that."

Jake's eyes lit up at the mention of 'ancient glyphs'.

"Miss Elder, where are these ancient glyphs you were talking about?"

"Like I said, at the center of town just past the shrine."

"We need to go there, I think I know what Team Sigma is doing here," Jake said, getting a knowing nod from both his teammates.
