Description
Haze and Jake stabbed their forks into the last pancake on the center plate, the utensils clinking at the forcefulness.

"Haze, you got the last one yesterday," Jake glared at the Blaziken as he carefully tugged at the breakfast piece.

Haze tugged at the golden piece as well, "So? You had the last strip of bacon."

"Yeah, but I have the maple syrup," Jake smirked and held up the bottle of syrup.

Haze would have tried snatching the bottle out of Jake's hand, but she knew he was trying to get her to lose focus on the fluffy, golden pancake that she wanted all to herself. Their eyes locked in concentration as they tried to pull the pancake toward themselves without tearing off a smaller piece. Suddenly, a flash of movement whooshed past the middle of them. They looked down to see both the pancake and the plate it sitting on cut up in that they each had only a small bite of the pancake under their forks

"There," Dagger leaned back in his chair gingerly pulling the largest piece toward himself, "Now it's fair."

"Hey give that back!" Haze huffed, but before she had time to reach out for the last pancake of the morning, Dagger had already taken a large bite out of it and was quickly finishing the rest of it off.

Haze fumed, "You little- this didn't involve you!"

"You were fighting over a pancake," Dagger rolled his eyes.

"MY pancake!"

"So are you gonna finish that then?" Jake said out of the blue, mouth already full with his piece that he got.

He nearly got the other piece on Haze's plate until she swiped it away, not wanting anyone to steal what little of her serving she had left. After their daily breakfast hijinks settled down in the PEF mess hall, Jake and his partners headed for the Intel Room where they would receive their mission for the day.

The doors slid open to the computer filled room where Admin Dakota and the comp techs were hard at work. Dakota held up a hand to signal Jake to wait just a moment as he looked onto a screen behind him that a PEF member was on via Receiver.

"Please continue," Dakota said.

The PEF member nodded and spoke, "Right, as we anticipated the Team Sigma raid team arrived in Twinleaf Town and have made off with several pieces of Prof. Rowan's lab equipment. I'm proceeding to investigate further in hopes that I might catch up to the raid team before the trail becomes cold."

"Alright then," Dakota acknowledged, "Be careful on your search Isaac."

The PEF member saluted casually and the screen went blank.

"Jake, Haze, Dagger, good morning," Dakota greeted them as they came forward.

"Good morning Dakota," Jake greeted back, "So what's our mission? Or has the lab team finished decrypting the tablet we recovered yet?"

Dakota chuckled at the PEF member's eagerness, "No, the tablet is still being decoded, but Professor Alex is heading the lab team in the decryption and has made considerable progress. As for your mission, I actually want to wait for our other member to arrive so I can brief you both."

"Other member?" Jake repeated, realizing that this was something important if this was not just another solo mission.

They didn't have to wait long, in fact as if on cue, the Intel room's door slid open.

"Sorry if I'm late," a young teenage girl waved as she entered.

She looked to be about Jake's age. She too was wearing the same basic PEF uniform as Jake; she was slightly skinnier than most girls that Jake had seen around the base, but not unhealthy in anyway with darker skin. She had straight brunette hair which was tied back in a ponytail at the moment with a rubber band which allowed her grass green eyes to shine unhindered by stray strands of hair. Beside her trotted a Luxray that wore the basic PEF vest as they both walked in. The Luxray bore an expression of something along the lines of boredom, but more over said he was only paying half his attention to his surroundings. Although Jake's attention was still being drawn to the girl and her brilliant, confident smile. In a little way he actually thought she looked kinda, cute.

"Why not take a picture, it might last longer," Haze whispered silently next to Jake.

Jake nearly jumped, but held himself in place giving a quick glare to the teasing Blaziken.

"Actually, you're right on time Sarah," Dakota waved her in closer, "Since you both will going on this mission, why don't you introduce yourselves."

The two teams turned to each other, Sarah, a little more gracefully pivoted on her heel and gave a warm smile.

"Hi there, I'm Sarah Hawthorne, PEF member. Though I guess you already figured that out."

Her voice, Jake thought, was elegant and somber like she could have sung those words and it still would have sounded normal. Quickly regaining his train of thought, he stumbled back to his introduction.

"Oh uh, me too…I mean being a PEF member. My name is Jake Everant."

"If you listen closely, you can hear his dignity shatter," Haze whispered to Dagger, but just loud enough for Jake to hear.

Jake resisted the urge to make a snide comeback and continued, "Also, these are my partners, Dagger and Haze."

Dagger gave nothing more than a simple nod, but that was normal. Haze was more or less the same, but flashed a smile and 'hello'.

"Right, and this is Fade. He is my partner," Sarah gestured to the Luxray that sat quietly swishing his tail back and forth, "Say hello Fade."

Fade, the Luxray, casually tossed a glance to acknowledge them, "Sup."

"Oh great, we have another emo in the group," Haze rolled her eyes; Dagger just sighed.

"Wanna take that back feather head," Fade said with a little more edge on his voice, but otherwise refused to look at Haze like there was something far more interesting in the room.

"Hey, no fighting," Both Jake and Sarah said at the same time.

"So you understand too?" Sarah asked first.

He should have known, over half the people in the base had the ability to understand pokemon.

Dakota coughed to get their attention back, "So now that introductions are out of the way, let's get back to the briefing."

Haze still held her glare toward Fade, but crossed her arms in defeat. Both teams gathered closer to the touch pad table as Dakota brought up a few files. Both Jake and Sarah were honestly surprised to see Dakota so organized for once, must have been a blue moon out the other night.

"To start off, have either of you heard of Celeste Town?"

Dakota picked one of the files in the touch screen which expanded into a zoomed in part of the Sinnoh map. A picture of an old looking town shrouded in a semi translucent fog also popped up next to the map.

"I have," Sarah nodded, "My father runs the poffin shop in Harthrome City. He gets a lot of his herbal supplements from there."

"Ok, so one of our members, Daniel, has regular patrols around that area and has taken note of some unusual activity. Recently the fog that usually only covers Route 210 have been leaking into the town unnaturally as if something is pushing the haze in. But the bigger concern that Daniel has brought to my attention is that there was a sighting of Team Sigma grunts around the town last time he was on patrol. Though here's the kicker, residents seem to becoming withdrawn from any attempts we try to make contact with them. We never had any problems in Celeste Town before and never really had to interact with the town itself besides our sky patrols."

Dakota opened up another folder on the touch screen which scrolled text lines that recapped what Dakota said in Daniel's report.

"I have a bad feeling about what's going on in that town, that's why I' sending two teams, you, instead of just one to investigate these phenomenon."

"Got it."

"Yes sir."

"Report back as soon as you can and don't be afraid to contact the base via Receiver if anything goes wrong. Good luck you two."
