Description It had been two weeks since Jake had returned to his family's ranch after he returned from the Unova region where he became of the few to be inducted into their hall of fame after defeating the Champion Alder. It was a pleasant day with very few clouds in the sky, perfect weather to spend the day outside which all the residents of the ranch decided to do. Jake found himself just resting under the shade of an old tree he used to play in with a couple pokemon when he was just a kid. Since he had returned home, most of his thoughts have been preoccupied with what he wanted to do next in his life. He had spent two years with the PEF when he was fifteen and another two years afterwards traveling both the Sinnoh and Unova regions to become a better trainer and person. Which left him to think about what the rest of his life had in store for him.

Though right now, his thoughts were a little more distracted by trying to sketch a drawing and erasing numerous times when he felt like he didn't get it right. Haze, a female Blaziken and his oldest partner, leaned over from her spot underneath the shady tree to look over Jake's shoulder.

"Is that suppose to be a tail on the side," Haze asked, trying to hold back her snicker after seeing her partner's failed sketch.

Jake blushed in embarrassment and erased the piece that was deemed a 'tail' to try again, "No, it was supposed to be an arm, of dad's Hitmonlee."

"Then I think you need about 5 more years of doodling before you can try that again, hah!"

Jake tore out the page of the notebook entirely and tossed it over his shoulder where a small pile of his failed sketches were piling up. Even a few of the younger pokemon made a game of trying to catch the paper projectiles that more than frequently got tossed.

"And you could do better?"

Haze just couldn't help but grin deviously as she flaunted her sketch pad in front of Jake which held a very stunning image of a Hitmonlee in a fighting pose.

"In my sleep," Haze taunted.

Jake pushed the sketch pad away and got to his feet to stretch, "You know Haze, we haven't had a sparring match in a while now."

"Trying to change the subject?" Haze giggled light heartedly.

It was true, Jake wanted to stop drawing (and failing) if it meant that Haze would stop showing him up, but he still wanted to just do something else at the moment as well.

"No, so are you going to talk or are you going to just keep 'doodling'?"

"Fine," Haze set her sketch pad down next to the tree, "I need to beat you at something else every once in a while."

With that the two took a few paces away from each other and warmed up for their 'friendly' little sparring match.

---

After a grueling match that slowly turned into a simple game of trying to pin the other to the ground. They eventually called it draw as both were too tired to try to reach that final goal and just laid on their backs looking up at the sky.

"Hey Jake?" Haze asked softly

"Yeah?"

"Have you figured out what you want to do next?"

Jake was ultimately brought back to the same question he had been asking himself for the past two weeks. He had enjoyed the peace and quiet that he found on his family's ranch, and was never without work as he helped out his parents tend to the pokemon that they raised. Though throughout all his traveling and time in the PEF, he found another peace of meeting new people and spending his days training and having fun with his partners.

"You know, I still can't decide," Jake laughed as spoke his mind freely.

"Heh, better decide fast or else your parents might think you're becoming a louse."

Haze knew they had all the time in the world to eventually figure out what they were gonna do with everyone else. For now though, she just joined in the laugh as they just laid there enjoying a bit of tired peace for the moment.

Ya know, this would fit in the 'trainer-Pokemon bonding one shot' Pokediginut got running awhile ago... It's a very laid back story. A nice change from what I find the norm.

Maybe I should

Yeah she started drawing after the team left PEF to travel the region, I'd go into the full backstory, but it probably take whole page to do it
