Description These are some eye-drawings I came up with yesterday when I was bored. I didn't intend them to be a deviation, but ... I'm posting 'em anyway now.

They turned out quite good, don't you think? Are there anymore ways I can improve upon drawing eyes? Because I only drew these from my mind.

Please comment.

You could try drawing them as they would appear with different facial expressions. Well done by the way

Lovely How do you align them though...I mean if they're looking in one direction, is there a rule you use to make sure both eyeballs are looking at the same thing? Sometimes my work looks cock-eyed

Psychosomatic-Psyche In reply to ShadowyZman [2011-05-16 17:09:34 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I know what you mean. I don't really have any particular rules about them; although I know that there must be, according to the previous comments. *thinks* But these eyes are incorrect since they're symmetrical. So just draw both of the direction of the eyes to the left or right, so make them seem more realistic, instead of just straight ahead, like what I've done here. Then again, they were just practice. I'm learning. XD I hope answered your question. If I haven't feel free to ask more.

I usually make them look in other directions but I have always had problems making both eyeballs look in the same place it makes them look cock eyed

Yeah, I can understand what you mean. Well, you know what they say; practice makes perfect. One thing I can never draw right are the friggin' hands.

what do you use like to draw it? just pencil or something else? because my eye drawings never turn out like that using just a normal pencil

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Psychosomatic-Psyche In reply to s2poisonivys2 [2010-09-11 00:22:09 +0000 UTC]

I used a "Black Smooth" Sketching Pencil, from (Daler Rowney, Artists "Sketching" Pencils.) You can get them from WHSmith. They're really good and I even I need to buy a new packet, haha.
Yeah, normal pencils don't work that well, but they're good for practice and stuff.

These pictures are dinamite!!! the best way to make a picture of a person look real is the eyes so when you drawing a person remember that each set of eyes are different, they don't have the same pattern on them. luv luv luv

great strokes !!!!
but put more details to the eyes- the reflection of light they should go in the same direction
not apart or across

but hey they're very good

GlitchAnims [2009-12-08 05:29:01 +0000 UTC]

heeeyyy, these are just flipped you cheater :3... the highlights in the eyes go to the opposite side when you flip it, so it looks sorta unnatural

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Psychosomatic-Psyche In reply to GlitchAnims [2009-12-08 21:00:43 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the highlights!
I drew the single eyes at first to convert them into photoshop brushes, but then poste them like this.
Goodness, I can't believe I overlooked something like simple little high-lights.

DustyKnives [2009-12-08 01:34:10 +0000 UTC]

I have a few suggestions for you. First, recognize that the eyelashes cast a shadow on the eye itself. Shade the area directly beneath the lashes slightly. Also, the...umm...pinkish, squishy thing in the corner of the eye is not a hard line, but rather fades into the eye itself.

The eye is an orb, so shade the bottom portion darker, as it does not touch as much light. Eyebrows are not perfectly patterned like that, so put a few stray hairs going different directions (look at a photograph to see what I mean).

And I see that you used the computer to mirror the image, making two eyes. Practice drawing both eyes, also. It is a bit difficult at first, but pays off in the end.

Don't get me wrong, you did a great job! I wouldn't have clicked it if I didn't think it looked awesome! I'm just giving some friendly advice. Let me know if I helped!

I think they're good, especially because they are drawn from memory. Maybe the only criticism I can think of is the thicker part of the eyebrows are a bit too straight at the end for natural eyebrows. However if you we're drawing trimmed eyebrows then they don't look out of place

Good job.
