Yes, it's Br'er Weasel, but in the style of the Toon Patrol!
My logic was simple: Br'er Weasel is awesome. The Toon Patrol weasels are even MORE awesome. Therefore, Br'er Weasel Toon Patrol style should likewise be very awesome.
This guy is SO fun to draw. I will most certainly keep drawing him, in both this style and his original style (when I can get ahold of some of the comics he's in...they're mostly in Dutch.
).This is a rather rough version: I simply couldn't wait to try coloring it. I may post a cleaner, inked version later, but it's not really a high priority because it won't look much different anyway.

Thank you! Yeah, he's pretty obscure because he's only been in a few American comics. Most of his comics are in the Netherlands!

I LOVE this! I haven't read the SOTS comics, but the original stories are a big part of why I am who I am today. I love ANYTHING related to Brer Rabbit, and it thrills me to see some semblance of a fandom beyond the obvious three characters.
I also love your idea to redo him in the style of the Toon Patrol. Apparently WFRR is supposed to be a bit of a tribute to Song of the South, so it really fits. Not to mention that movie is just plain awesome.
This piece is great. Have you done any more with it, or anything like it? I'd love to see, if you have.

Well, heck, he's an AWESOME character! It's really sad to me that so few people know who he is!
My logic was; Toon Patrol = unbelievably awesome. Br'er Weasel = unbelievably awesome. Thus, Toon Patrol + Br'er Weasel = EPICALLY AWESOME!!
I haven't done anything else with this (I presume you mean fanfiction or print-wise?), nor have I drawn any more like it. YET. I plan on drawing him A LOT in the future, because he is UNBELIEVABLY fun to draw! I know another gal who drew him, though, She's a big fan, too! Seems like sound logic to me. XD It is really sad so few people know who he is. Apparently back in the day, like when Song of the South came out, the Brer Rabbit stories were more widely known about, and more people knew back then. These days, however, not so much.
You should do more! And I meant anything: fanfiction, art, whatever.

I know! I mean, jeez, we've obviously learned from our mistakes...it's not like that's the opinion represented by the Disney company! I hear tell, though, that if "The Princess and the Frog" does well, "Song of the South" MAY be released on DVD...FINALLY!
Disney could just do what WB did with their "politically incorrect" cartoons (the Speedy Gonzales ones): put a disclaimer that the stuff is wrong but it's history now, and they don't believe it anyway. That's what I wish they'd do...

Gee... I really do hope that rumor is really true about the whole Song of the South DVD!!! I can't wait until The Princess and the Frog and I'm probably going to end up seeing it a ton of times... because it's traditional animation... haha
