That's always been one thing that confused me about KHI.
I thought that since Kingdom Hearts closed, the worlds all got restores, and everyone returned home (Like Simba, Mushu, the Princesses) but apparently, not everyone returned, because people like Riku, Sora, and Ansem the Wise, etccc x___X

I think it is a bit of a plothole, actually....x.x apparently they explained Kairi going back to the islands instead of Hollow Bastion (which was her original home) as the islands where the world she was on when it got taken by darkness, wheras she was sent from HB by the real Ansem. (right?) So uh...I was under the impression that Sora is the Keyblade bearer so he's special!? And Riku left the world on his own.
It is a bit of a stretch though.
Also, I'm taking artistic liberty with this scene, because if you look at the end of KH 1, it seems like Cid is introducing them to Cloud, and Aerith recognizes him, so it's implied that Cid found him somewhere!? I dunno. So I'm changing it slightly for this so it'll make more sense. But hey it's doujinshi, who cares. XD
