Thanx U. What are you viewing it on? I am curious what it looks like on your end or why you are not a fan of the filter?

Ive been seeing this word Instagram pop up a lot on FaceBook. I actually really have no idea what it is or even about yet. I assume its some kinda picture app thing though. While I did use a digital filter and not a lens filter I faded it out till it was just about not even visible anymore. I then used the levels and selective coloring along with some burning and dodging. In this picture I also healed a piece of bridge out to give it a more open look. For the most part you can only see the filtering color in the cement work as I wanted to achieve an vintage yet eerie feeling to the photo. This photo for the most part is just good use of CS5.1 , natural light and my own skill with a camera.
I do agree though with the over usage of the same app effects. Im not against them or anything and I think they make a fun tool to play with for sure and I have even used some myself , but I also feel as if its cheating sorta. When professional filters are used correctly they can really bring out an artist in someone and even add to a picture quite nicely. With some of the effects though Id say its more like choosing a film, lens filter and processing type for your digital camera, which is like mixing the film age with the digital age. Every thing I used on this photo is strictly photo editing software and real camera and not some cheesy app for kids to play with on there phones.
