It's already posted that everyone in Millennium is insane to a degree. The Captain and Doktor being the least likely.

Everyone but the Doktor and Captain are insane by long isolation or driven mad by power. It makes sense for veterans who voluntarily changed their lives from humans to vampires and lost World War II. Where would they go back to? They're vampires now. They can't just go back to their "normal" lives. It took the Major's words (though insane himself) to hold them all together with a facade of conquering England. That was the whole point of Millennium in the Hellsing story. They're old veterans that grew insane over time.
