How do you draw reflections?

Thank you. Reflections.  Say I want the area really dark, like 6B dark. I cover the area with 6B lead and then smooth it with a tissue.  Really gentle like.  Then I apply a layer of B lead. Then the tissue again. I keep applying the B followed by the tissue until I get the reflection I want.
