I like the concept (praying bloody hands), but I find the "downward cross" way, too simple! The greater is the contrast (in situation), better is the impact!

The sort of irony in this shot is great. And the contrast between the blood and the pale skin, and the black beads is spectacular. The offset of the hands on one side and the cross on the other is wonderful as well. Beautiful composition and beautiful contrast.
