Description
Transgender is an umbrella term covering all gender identities or expressions that transgress or transcend society’s rules and concepts of gender. To be trans usually means to identify as a gender other than the gender one was assigned at birth. The category of transgender includes people who have the binary gender identities of female (transgender women) or male (transgender men). The transgender umbrella includes people with nonbinary gender identities. However, some nonbinary people don't call themselves transgender.
Transfeminine is a term used to describe transgender people who were assigned male at birth, but identify with femininity to a greater extent than with masculinity. They could be either trans women or nonbinary.
This flag in particular was created by Tumblr user arachnopath (who later deleted that account), as a flag that isn't just a counterpart to a transmasculine flag or created by a non-transfeminine person as an afterthought. This is what the original post said:
Here is what I hope will be a definitive trans woman pride flag.
I was really upset by how many different trans woman pride flags have been floating around, a lot of which seemed to not even have been made by trans women. Obviously, the effectiveness of a symbol is directly related to how recognizable it is, so over-saturating the community with flags has definitely hurt trans women’s visibility.
This is of course a necessity, because the oppression that trans women face is distinct from the oppression felt by rest of the trans umbrella identities. We thereby need a symbol to rally around that is itself distinct from the rest of the trans community’s symbol.
Overall the original trans pride flag has a very classic and recognizable look, so I attempted to preserve as much of the original design as possible. The main change from this is the replacement of the soft baby blue, which represents manhood in the original flag, with a thick blunt red.
- The pink represents womanhood and femininity.
- The white represents the transition itself, along with a distinction from the gender binary.
- The red represents the struggle and violence that trans women face both in the process of transition and in everyday life, along with a reminder that we do have a shared history of resistance and activism.
If you like it please feel free to reblog it so that maybe we can finally have a widely recognized symbol of trans female pride. Non trans women feel free to reblog it as well.
This flag was also used as a transfeminine pride symbol in other occasions, such as in this post and this post .

this is literally the first time i've ever seen those or anything like them, i'm talking about the fact that overall, the other is MUCH more widespread with tons more people talking about them, spreading them, using them, and making more. flags for trans masculine folk are typically only made by the people who take it too far and disrespect the idea of pride flags by making a "gender" or "sexuality" out of any and every little personality trait you can think of, like saying "[name of fictional group]-sexual" to denote simply being a fan of a tv show or something, just so that they can make a fashion accessory of it. it's never something you see average people trying to do if they're not somebody whose gallery consists entirely of stamps/icons/etc for every label they can think of just to exhaust every option for content (and even then how long does it take an account like that to get to trans masculine things after exhausting all the more popular ones??).

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree then. I just like to let people live their lives in whatever way makes them feel comfortable. So far, I haven't been negatively affected by the decision to support these people aside from outsiders judging me for it.

normally that's fine, there's nothing wrong with simply having a trans feminine flag in a vacuum for those who want it. the problem is the attitude behind this one and others like it, and the overall situation surrounding the topic. the description and the person who made this flag are promoting a divisive and harmful attitude toward the issue.

Is trans masculine when a woman changes to a guy, or vice versa?

the labels of trans man/masculine and trans woman/feminine are about the end result, the way they currently identify
